Yeah, Alpha Protocol. I tried to build a pure-stealth character with no weapon skills and had OP happen to me for about five forced combat sections in a row complete with an escort mission where the escortee dies in three bullets.
I dropped it for a year, came back, built a better character, and loved it.
I played Half Life on PS2 and wasn't really used to the way PC games do saves which is still in the PS2 version of Half Life. I just kept saving over the same slot every once in a while and I was retarded and saved like 3 seconds before I got a game over when the scientist was opening the portal to Xen. So every time I loaded the game it was pretty much an immediate game over and I had to restart the entire game. Didn't play the game again for a while and next time I did was on PC I think.
Am I missing something, why does a huge mistake in a video game cause you to stop playing?
If it were Fallout 4 and I missed quest only items, I don't see a reason to stop playing.

I want to play again so bad. But it's too late. I didn't even get to try all the characters yet.
I have 100+ hours on FF tactics advance just playing blind, shitting around. Can't ever progress enough to finish all the missions though so I finally go look shit up online. I've discarded materials needed for quests that you can not earn. I'll never finish all the quests on that file, it's just impossible. I remember quitting games for some time after that heartbreak.
Played Fallout 4 non-stop for like 12 hours and didn't save once. So yeah, you can guess how that went.

Grinded pretty fucking hard in FFXII. Made sure I got all the right chests and just spent a lot of time grinding in one area for all my characters. Then my ps2 fell to the ground and the memory got corrupted. Haven't touched FFXII is 10 years.

Yeah. I was playing Dark Souls and I told myself I was going to completely lose to Gwynn, get my ass beat, but I totally fucked up and won instead. Went through the ending cutscenes shocked and pissed off, then just put the game away and turned off the console, fuming. Haven't touched it since.

I dont quite remember that part but can relate. My friend and I couldnt figure out how to get into the mob boss' place in Chicago on TS2, spent like an hour looking and gave up. Wasnt till years later playing the game that we figured it out
MGR:R, I had beaten a few difficulties and went to start a new game on Revengence mode. Somehow I accidentally lost all of my character's progress and just stopped playing the game.
KOTOR. Went in completely blind other than it is one of the most highly praised Star Wars games. After a couple of hours I end up finding out that I completely fucked over my character because of the leveling system. The fact that the stat-based dice roll combat completely ruined my immersion and that the main plot twist was spoiled for me didn't help matters. At least I had fun with that one side mission where you had to investigate a murder.
