I watched the live gameplay at Nintendo's E3 shindig.
Didn't look very good.
The graphics looked on par with a ps2 game and the animations looked really choppy.
The systems and mechanics looked like it was all over the place and I get the feeling the weapon and class system means grinding is going to be needed.
It didnt even remotely feel like I was looking at a Fire Emblem X SMT game.

Online seems to be a persistent thing, an always on-going battle between 4 factions which you can chose to align with for a period of days and conquer territory for them. Reminds me of Chromehounds. You can visit the capital cities of each faction and between other things go to the market of the one you're aligned with and get different prices (and availability?) on items depending on how the war is going.... I think.
All of that being said I'm completely ignoring the online aspect and just doing single player. It's a single player focused game, not like it's a MP game with single player thrown in, more like the other way around, where MP enhances the SP but is optional and you don't have to interact with it directly (online battles, I mean). There is some sort of invasion/defence system where you build you little battlefield but once again, I didn't even touch that yet.
Think of it like a Fire Emblem or Etrian Odyssey game, plenty of stuff to do even if online wasn't a thing. And AFAIK all DLC is included for free in the western version (which I believe is a full campaign for each faction, not just your guild)

Unlike the GBA babies on here that only know about Mars because of Memelee, I played every FE up to Shin Monsho No Nazo, watched the OVA, read the Maki Hakoda manga, and even own some of the trading cards. I'm one of the people that hates the new direction FE went in with Awakening and predicted it as soon as I saw the kind of praise it was getting on here. I was even more disgusted when I saw people claiming without a bit of irony that there's no difference between what happens in Genealogy and what happens in #FE since "marriage = waifus" or some such nonsense. As far as I'm concerned, this censorship is nothing but pure retribution that you all deserved. But anyway, allow me to give you a bit of history on FE and explain why this game is so bad:
Nintendo made a western fantasy inspired SRPG series 25 years ago, it featured all sorts of fucked up shit like incest and indoctrination of children into the cult of nationalism, and that kind of stuff. Of course, casuals don't care about that kind of stuff (or know how to import/download fan translations) so it wasn't doing so well and only became known in the west because of Mars and Roy being in Smash Brothers since no one watched the OVA, and of course, most didn't even play the ones that did get localized. Nintendo got desperate and made a new Fire Emblem that was heavily anime inspired, so it went from being like Lodoss to being like Queen's Blade(along with being casualized in general). It was a huge hit (with casuals), but many posters here warned people that this was going to set the precedent and they were ignored due to being outnumbered by the blind. After this success, a crossover with Megami Tensei was announced, which turned out to actually be an Idolmaster game, but with some occasional sword fighting, proving the aforementioned warning posts correct.
