Since Mighty No 5.6 failed can we have a good old fashioned Mega Man thread?
What was your first MM game?
What is your favorite?
Who gives a damn hell what IGN says any more? MN9 failed when it was announced.
Megaman Network Transmission was the first Megaman game I boughtstill never beat it
Favorite megaman game has to either be 3 or 9, I love the classic series to death

This'll probably be the best place to say this, so I'll say it. My first game was Battle Network 3. I ended up playing all of them and all the Star Force games. I've honestly really never played Classic, X or the Legends games.
Which games would you suggest I play from the 3 series I haven't tried. Or should I just play them in order?
>>342171525
Classicfag here, I'd reccommend 2,3,4,9 & 10. You could play 1,4, 7 and 8 if you want to, they're not bad, but are a bit eh imo.
6 is shit though
>>342171848
I hear that a lot. I have another friend who's a huge classic fan, but his least favorite is 6. Why is that?
First game that I can remember is Mega Man 7. I rented it and really liked it, then asked for it for my birthday. Got Mega Man X for my birthday instead, and that was the happiest I was at a mistake my parents made aside from myself.
Favorite is Mega Man X.
>>342172020
6 has some of the most repetitive and boring level designs, where some levels are either hard as fuck or the easiest ever. Personally my major issue with it is how they changed the slide mechanics, you're unable to cancel a slide into a jump in 6, instead if you press A Megaman stops.
I cannot begin to tell you how many times I died due to this.
This to me is just further proof you can't just hype yourself up solely on 'reviving' the classics if you have nothing good to bring to the table yourself.
>>342170884
I marathoned the classic series when I played them for the first time, 1 through 6.
My favourite is 3. 2 is a bit overrated, 4 is underrated. 5 and 6 are not as bad as some people make them out to be, and 1 is DEFINITELY much better than people claim.
I got to 7 and hated it. X never grabbed me but I didn't find it as appalling as 7. Haven't played any others.
>>342171525
Play Classic in order
I'm playing old megaman games to try and make the hurt go away
The cutscenes and voice acting in MMX4 are so painfully awkward and bad but somehow still manage to be better than everything I've seen from MN9 because at least back then they had an excuse
I'm going to play through all the Battle Network and Star Forces games in order. I played the first few BN games when they were knew, but I never played 4-6. I'm pretty excited to go all the way through every game.
Just waiting for my copy of BN1 to get here.
>>342172809
>playing MMBN4
Don't do it, I started it myself a week ago trying to do the same thing and it's been such a fucking boring slog
Most recently I had to have a fucking... cyber curry cooking competition or some shit just to kill time before another generic tournament battle against a regular green navi
>>342173109
I've heard that BN4 is the worst of the series, but that just kinda makes me curious. I imagine I can push myself through it, even if it's only once in my life.
who is the best Robot Master?
>>342174218Splash Woman
>>342170884
Mine was 8
My favourite is 8
Fuck capcom for going back to pixel shit for
>Muh nostalgia

Which is the best Battle Network game to play?
I wish Quake Woman/Tempo was canon :(
>>342175441

By series
Classic: 9
X:4
Zero:3
ZX:ZX
Legends:1
Never played the battle network series.
>>342175441
Idk man 9 and 10 were pretty good as someone who absolutely loved 8, don't tell me you can genuinely defend "JUMP JUMP SLIDE SLIDE"
>>342175503
In my opinion, the 3rd Battle Network is the best to play, but that's probably because it was my first one.
First: MMX
Favorite: MM3
>>342170884
this op actually gets to me. It's been fun to meme on Mn9, but I would have liked it more if it was actually a well-polished success. Something for the Mega Man fans to actually be cheerful about.
My first Mega Man was MM2. My favorite still is 2, I just find it the easiest to replay and do unorthodox boss orders with.
>>342170884
I know I played a bunch of Megaman games on the NES, but I can't which I played beside 1 & 2.
But my favorite has to be Megaman X2 by a land slide.
My first Mega Man game was number 2, and only because I saw it in a store as playable when I was a kid.
I was confused as fuck, thinking on the screen with all the other robots that I was picking which one I played as, which made it worse because I picked Flashman and the blue/face showing made me think that's how the game worked.
When I finally got to play a Mega Man game properly, it was Mega Man X, that's when I really got into it. A friend of mine also had the Wily Wars on Genesis, so I got a chance to play that as well.
Never played any of the Playstation or Playstation 2 games though except for Legends.
My first Mega Man was the shitty iOS version of 2. Since then I have played nearly the whole classic series, Battle Network 1 and X1 and X4.
My favorite game is either Mega Man 6 or X1.
Best robot master isHoney Woman

Nothing wrong with it m8. Was funny shit
why couldn't they have just produced megaman legends 3
if they hadn't gutted 3 by restricting it to a handheld then claiming not enough people played some demo to justify making the game, people wouldn't have been so furious at capcom over them hogging the license and ruining it, and if they weren't so mad, less people would have funded MN9, and maybe this whole mess could have been avoided
>>342170884
First? mmmm.
I think one of the megaman X games, on a SNES emulator. One where you start as megaman, but you change to zero midway through the first mission.
My favourite series was Megaman zero, no doubt. I just loved dashing and slicing my way through the game and all the power-ups and cyber-elf collecting.
Also, I loved the fact that if you defeated a boss with the Z-saber, he'd get slashed in half everytime. Those neat litle things just made me love the series.
Who /MMX4/ here?
>>342180024
mmx4 is trash, rmx4 is where it's at.
>>342180024
My first playstation game and what taught me about memory cards being a thing.
I got really, really good at that intro level.
>>342179826
Inafune walked out on Capcom to start Comcept because he thought Capcom wasn't trying hard enough to do well in the industry.
With a key player on the production team gone, the project fell apart, I guess.
First Mega Man game was MMX. Favorite is a tie between MMX and Mega Man Legends. Mega Man got me into the Protomen, and they're my favorite band (and they happen to be from my home state).
>>342170884
all of these

Those bobbleheads look horrifying.
>>342180359
>Protomen
ACT III NEVER EVER
>I could have fall for the MN5.6 scam
>>342170884
Megaman 1 was the first
Fav has to be Megaman 2, 6 is a close second. Also the fan made DONGS is pretty good too, challenging but good
Shit could have actually been good if it
>had an artstyle that wasn't 3DS level shitty 2.5D
2.5D can be great when actual heart is put into it. But I don't think anyone is impressed by the the style in 2016. It's one of the easiest things to just fall into looking uninspired.
>put money into the actual fucking game instead of using that money to do other bullshit like movies and a supposed show
>didn't take about 4-5 years to put out some bullshit like this
>>342170884
I don't have any clear favorite game, really, might as well say all of them. But I do have favorite bosses. Anyway, for first games by series:
>Megaman 7
Favorite Robot Master: Freezeman
>Megaman X4
Favorite Maverick: Magma Dragoon
>Megaman Zero 4
Favorite Einherjar: Fenri Lunaedge
>Megaman ZX
Favorite Pseudoroid: Hivolt
>Megaman Battle Network 5
Favorite NetNavi: Colonel.EXE
>Megaman Star Force: Dragon
Favorite FM-ian: Harp Note
>Megaman Legends 2
Favorite boss: Geetz
First was 2
I dunno what my favorite is to be honest. Megaman games kinda all meld together in my head.
>>342175503
From what I remember as a kid, 1 was shit, 2 and 3 were great, 4 was ok
I'm playing X4 right now
WHAT AM I FIGHTING FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR?!

Should've just been a high quality 2d game instead.
>>342170884

X
>What is your favorite?
Rockman & Forte
>>342182890
Shantae HGH did 2.5D right by at least having the character and enemies being quality 2D sprites even if they had to cut corners by making the backgrounds 3D
Any of you gay niggas play Megaman 8BDM online?
The Dustman/HSH meta is getting out of hand.
