You can enjoy small aspects of a game, like the controls in RE6 since I gave that example, but dislike the game at large. And there's plenty of reasons to not like RE6. I'll even throw in an extra example, DMC4, overall terrible game due to backtracking and weak story but that fucking combat is addictive as shit and pretty damn amazing. That would be the RE6 example in reverse, a small part of the game redeeming an entire thing.

In the grand scheme of a game, the combat is actually pretty small.
I'm not just broadly talking story, graphics and gameplay. I include smaller sections like assets, animation, level design, world building, character development etc. in the whole thing. There is a great deal more to the game than you assume.
