I remember when the Wii came out and everyone was creaming their pants over Twilight Princess.
You bought the wii, got the game, and sat down to play for x amount of hours. Then it's over and you're stuck with a console with no games.

I do have a Wii U and I kinda feel like it could have a lot more interesting games. Tablet is pretty much useless, can't recall any game that used it in a fun way.

If you're buying the NX, the NX version will be superior, and (there are rumours) there will be no backwards compatibility, then there's no incentive to buy Wii U.
It's like the case with not buying PS4 when NEO is coming out, or buying Xbox One when Scorpio is coming out. Why get jewed out of your shekels to buy what will soon become outdated toasters?
