Jak 2 took the base game from Jak 1 and did nothing but improve and add to it. The base platforming is still the biggest element in the game, but they added guns to make the combat deeper than "press Square"

One thing Jak 2 and 3 did a lot better than any of the Ratchet & Clank games was how they tied the mobility of melee combat better into guns. You could punch and fire at the same time (f.ex. to close in with the shotgun), or combine the spin kick into shooting everywhere. Combining the gravity gun with spin kick and ricocheting bullets in 3 was fun as fuck.
Compare that to R&C where the weak wrench feels more like a beginner tool / novelty weapon that gets quickly phased out by proper weaponry, and you can't really fight melee and shoot at the same time. It's either melee OR strafing. Only time you saw yourself using it was during specific wrench-only arena challenges or just for the heck of it.

While I'll agree that some of the Jak 3 vehicle parts were fun, the majority of them were INCREDIBLY infuriating and simply not fun. I'm not talking about the dark souls "it's hard but fair" kind of shit but like there were a couple missions that made me what to blow my head off. The one where you had to track the Bandits through the wasteland and if you got more than 2 feet behind while they use superior turn rate cars you auto lose the mission comes to mind. Sly was consistently good across all 3 releases. Varying environments and countries and puzzle solving, and bosses made this easily the best.
R&C had great level design, great time sink to get some of the guns. Great characters. The world and environments were not the most memorable.
Jak and Dax 1 was a great platformer puzzle game in a colorful world and for whatever reason they threw that out and made it apocalyptic and filled with guns.
Is it just me, or does Jak 3 feel a bit unfinished? It's still a good game, but the story feels much messier compared to Jak 2.

The Ratchet series is the best franchise for me, because I like the setting more, I like the vast array of weapons, and I like the mild RPG elements which let you upgrade your weapons, health and armor. If I had to pick, I'd go with Jak. As much, as 2 gets ridiculed for Dark Eco Jak/edgy teens, the open world was great.
Also Ratchet 1 and Sly 1 were way weaker compared to later entries, while Jak 1 still hold candle (though it was propably mostly to it being slightly different genre).

Played through majority of Ratchet and Clank games, love them all. Played through Jak 3, it was alright, had cool ideas, but characters and story were forgettable at best. Played through couple levels of some Sly(either 1 or 3, it was some wooden pirate base levels) it was fucking atrocious and I couldn't stand it.

Whilst you're obviously fishing hard for replies, I am inclined to agree for the most part. ToD was kinda fun, I remember when it just came out and I was a teenager who grew up with Sly/Jak/Ratchet on the PS2 and I thought ToD was pretty good. Skipped CiT though.
Anyway, a few months back I dug out my old consoles and replayed some of the games and god Crack in Time isn't good. The Clank missions/puzzles are entertaining but completely ruin the pace of the game.
And what the fuck is with the hub-world-esque areas with the mini planet sidequest bullshit. Seriously fuck that.
Some of the planets are good, the junkyard one I quite enjoyed and the jungle planet with the time anomalies I liked, but that's about it. The planets are surrounded by so much filler garbage none of them are memorable
And fuck the radio god that shit was annoying.
It's a shame because deep under all the garbage I think there might be a good game in there.
