That's not DRM.
It's literally hiding files in a foreign computer.

The console versions work fine offline, and one could theoretically port the values hidden on Blizz's servers from those versions.

That's like saying a car is unfixable because one pressure switch goes out that is responsible for your cars idle that just so happens to be UNDER your engine case, so you have to remove the exhaust and potentially disconnect and lift the motor to replace it.

I can't understand how people defend DRM. It literally is not a good thing for you. It's that simple. It is of no benefit to the consumer. Something which cannot be good, but can be bad, is an awful thing.

I play my games on PS4 these days and I still didn't get new Doom because it looks shit. I don't care that people like it. Although I care that there is no demo, I think the first 30 mins of every game should be free with the option to buy after that, much like Doom original, I guess.

Denuvo does without a doubt make the games tax your hardware more simply by accessing it more than it would have done otherwise. Denuvo isn't impervious but the fact remains DRM will get better and better, eventually we're going to have to find new ways of pirating than simple bruteforce cracks and tricking DRM.

It won't mean I'll buy games, it just means I'll play less games. DOOM looks good and I'm strongly considering buying it once I've tried it but I refuse to buy a game that has no replayability and a demo doesn't cut it.
If I play through a game once and don't desire to ever play it again then it's a bad game.

Unlike other DRM Denuvo doesn't just affect the game files.
When you get a Denuvo game it directly affects system files and .exes
Just try running Denuvo.exe after you install a Denuvo game. It connects to the internet periodically for "authenticity checking" even if you don't have the game installed.
Data mining at it's finest. The average user may not care about it, but I shun from Denuvo games because I'm a daily deep-web user (mostly drugs) and the last thing I want is the police knocking on my door because I wanted to play Doom or the latest Dragon age.
A game can be successful without out-of-the-ass DRM, just look at the Souls and TW games.

One of Denuvo problems is it breaks Wine. DOOM is not playable in WINE, even though there is no reason it shouldn't be. And even if someone cracks DOOM for Windows, Denuvo will still be there, making it impossible to play on WINE until someone starts making separate profiles for each game with this DRM.

And before you say something about Linux gaming, I really hope you have Windows 10 installed, because this is your future. There are several DX12 games, but no one picks up Vulkan on PC gaming platform, and no one will until people start switching to Linux.
>>
>>342133003

Deliver a nice port, support it with some worthy content, and you have a PC hit.
Dying Light, The Witcher 3...

It's around a 93-95 per cent piracy rate, so it ends up at about the same percentage. The revenue we get from the people who play is more long term, so we can continue to bring content."

That's the quote you're talking about and you clearly have reading issues, like most people who aren't used to pay for stuff
