1. You do think ahead in fighting games constantly, especially with setplay and running offense.
2. Your reads are based on habits, and there are instances where you'll make a read based on limited information (for example you know a player can end a block string in a variety ways, but you're not sure which they'll use and how you'll need to defend). Even shit like Chipp being invisible.
3. There are both limited and contested resources. Johnny for example only has 7 coins per round, ABA only has 3 bloodpacks, contested resources would be anything that effects both players equally (aka most of Faust's shit) and plenty of situations with jockeying for control of Venom's ball formations after a knock back or Jack-O's towers.
The rest is opinion shit. I mean I could say how FPS only requires three buttons, has no complicated inputs, minimal meter and additional mechanics, minimal call-and-response, etc.

Storywise? I don't know, I always see the story as a vehicle to get in fights and conquest. I don't care about it too much.
But there's one campaign for each race I think, and they seem to be huge. There's also 13 scenarios on maps of varying sizes (Huge to kinda small) I've been playing the high elves one, and after I got past the tutorial shit, I've been on the same mission for about 12 hours.
It might be because I play like a turtle. But something tells me if I don't get burned out, I'll be playing this for a while.

but the way afps and fighting game handle the same aspect is different. Valid tactic like run, hide, ambush in afps are anti thesis to fighting games. If fighting games didnt have to work around the limit of controllers or afps the freedom of mkb, it's hard to see how both genre would turn out.
