Top 10 Games: Thread 3/?
Alright everyone, listen up. /v/ hasn't updated its top 100 games list in a long time, so I'm going to gather data to make a new one.
I have written a program that will take top 10 lists and combine them into a single, weighted list. I'll probably be making several of these threads over the course of the next few weeks, to make sure that I actually get 100 distinct games for the overall list.
Near the end of each thread, I can post the current state of the overall list, so that we can discuss if it seems correct.

Yeah. I played it for something like70 hours. I acknowledge and understand all complaints about the game, but something about it just clicked right with me. I felt like it had extremely good "game feel" relative to its subject, which is how I primarily rate video games.

That's weird but it's better than the hoards of people who rank Bethesda RPGs as their top games. That said I dunno if 70 hours is that much for an open world game. I have 90 hrs in Phantom Pain and I didn't even like that game that much.
Op here. Quick question to everyone.
I intend to let people post their top 10 games, but my program would also account for relative list position in my scoring (A person's 1st place game scores more points than their 2nd place game, and that is worth more points than their 3rd place game etc.). Is this worth doing that or should each game just be considered a single point in terms of score? I want to go with my original method because it would lead to far fewer ties in the list, but do you guys think that it's fair?

How are you gonna deal with names that no one is gonna write exactly the same way? Like I have MGS2 in my list written Metal Gear Solid 2, some people may write it MGS2 or Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty or Substance.

That's the part where I have to go through the data manually. There's not really any other way around it without making everything a gigantic hassle for everyone submitting their answers. It would probably require people to copy the name, word for word, from the game's wikipedia page (assuming it has one in the first place).
I'm on vacation though so I have plenty of time to do it.

This game had enough bugs and glitches to make fallout:NV running on a calculator with multiple personality disorder and every mod installed, seem like a stable game. The intentions were good, writing despite stale very decent and the mechanics were close to revolutionary for its genre, but that doesnt matter if your code is written by a retarded monkey that deletes every fourth line of code it writes.

personal top 10 is different than "best games," a lot of factors play into personal enjoyment that aren't objective and are based around your own preferences rather than whether the game has objectively good gameplay, story, characters, etc.
