I personally feel like the degree to which the experience focuses on dialogue choices pushes The Witcher series at the very least into the middle of the Venn diagram between Action/Adventure and RPG. Sure the choices aren't as branching as, say, Alpha Protocol, but the differences between the choices are still the focus.
It's almost like ARPG is a sub-genre of RPG that exists and encompasses these titles.
