The final boss isn't really a challenge, he is overall weaker than Daud and way easier to sneak on. He doesn't really count as a final boss, even if you use only the sword he isn't that much of a problem.
Daud really is suppose to be the hardest boss, and even him you can choke him.
That's the point btw, you can just neutralize every target and every enemy.
Hell you can even bypass the final boss completely.

Havelock says in his journal at the end that it's bullshit how he was going to lose everything he'd worked for just because Corvo was better with a blade than him.
It's not meant to be climatic. Havelock was all all talk, he didn't stand a chance if Corvo confronted him and he knew it, which is why he tries to attack you while he thinks you're distracted grabbing the key he offers to you.

Corvo; By the end of the game, you're a goddamn demigod with a whole bevy of different powers (provided you got all the runes/charms). Even without powers, you're a well trained fighter in his prime years, and a shit load of gadgets.
Havelock; A well seasoned, but aging soldier, pretty much at the end of his rope...

Nope it's possible, difficult because he moves a lot and there's like two to three whalers but it's doable. He's immune to sleep darts though.
