It is true that video cards will be much cheaper to buy, when new ATI video cards come this June 29?

This will apply to Nvidia cards too?

I'm about to build a PC gamer. What do I do?

Nvidia already cut prices on 900 series. I doubt they will do the same on 1000 once the new amd cards hit the market.

I'd get a 970 if you are playing on 1080p. If you are looking to upgrade to 4K, get one of them new cards. You could also wait for the benchmarks for the new AMD cards and then decide again which way to go.

rx 480, might as well be prepared for 1080p when you think of getting a new monitor

I got an r9 380x, not going to upgrade until I see Vega. If it's too expensive, going to wait until Navi. By then HBM2 should be less expensive.

I honestly don't know, OP. If the new AMD cards meet the hype then I suppose NVIDIA will have to adjust their pricing to compete.

If not, then it'll just be another cycle of cheap, mediocre cards that are good for about two years and expensive, overkill cards that I suppose may or may not pay for themselves over the course of 5+ years.

I'm hoping AMD will meet the hype because I want to upgrade my gtx 970 but I also don't want to waste six hundred US dollars to do it.

Wait for 3rd party benchmarks on the rx 480, if they prove to be good then go with that. If you want more power then wait until AMD announces the 490/x. If you just want to throw away money for no reason then buy Nvidia's new lineup.

>>
Okay ignoring faggot op. Im a poorfag. Looking to do my first tower build (ive done basic laptop to desktop builds and some minor hardware repairs in laptops. Nothing too technical like changing motherboard). Looking for some assistance on the best performance per cost items. I have a few hard drives already... so skip that. But for ram, cpu, gpu, pu, etc, i would like to know which brands sell the best quality for price, or any individual parts that are just too good a deal to not get. I wouldn't want to go over 400 usd for parts. But ideally the cost shoul be around 300 dollars. With everything minus hdd (maybe ram too if its too expensive or puts me at over price range)
>>
>>342100294
400 USD is tough. Look for combos on https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales, try to snag a MOBO + CPU for about 100/150, then get an RX 480 (coming up at the end of the month), slap 8 GB of RAM (any brand will do) and you should be within your limits.
>>
>>342100226
Dude take the trade. Sell for 400. Profit. Its much easier to push pcs than phones. And with that money you can probably upgrade your current desktop or do a built with smaller ram and storage. But high cpu and gpu. Thats hoe ive built cheap gaming pcs in the past, plus i have a personal laptop for my casual use

You do what 90% of PC gamers do:

You wait for the "latest killer tech" then flake out because when it finally comes out, it means the next "latest killer tech" is just a few months away, you might as well wait for that. Roll on another 5-6 years and eventually you've died of old age, your last words being a whisper "PC gaymen" as a snowglobe of a PC tower rolls down a flight of stairs.

It depends mostly on how used it is. If this fucker used it like 24/7 for a year. Fuck that. Storage and memory are toast. But if it looks fairly new and has decent ram and gpu then why not?also some people who sell their builds dont even think about the cost of the tower, so if the tower is cool, thats a plus

Also.. technically phones are more expensive than ps4 or xbone. But its obvious which is the better choice. Phones are marketed as expensive soley to give discounts if you connect a linr

I saw an iPhone 5 with a broken volume down button that was otherwise fully functional sell for 50 bucks shipped on a very popular hardware trading forum yesterday. Even on eBay you'd be hard pressed to get more than 100-120 bucks for a fully functional unlocked iPhone 5 in fair condition with an uncracked screen when you factor in fees and shipping.

The computer the guy offered him is shit and he'd pretty much need to replace everything anyways in order to run shit at tolerable framerates but it's definitely worth more than the phone is regardless.

Honestly building anything sub 500 is going to be a major challenge. Even then having something that'll run games at 1080p and greater than 30 and at least 60 fps will be a hit and miss. You also have to factor in parts such as a case, monitor, mouse and keyboard and OS unless you already have those parts. I'm not saying you should go for expensive but for reliable. Don't cheap out, just save until you have enough. Simple as that.

Nvidia don't need to adjust their pricing, because they're offering a different product. When AMD releases the Vega chipset, then Nvidia might consider adjusting their prices.

Serious answer here.
It matters when you use high resolution textures (ultra textures only need VRAM not rendering power).
Or when rendering in high resolutions.
Or to reduce the FPS hiccups
Or when overclocking,
750 ti comes with 1GB by default and works best at 900p

I'm not him and I don't have that mindset so it seems to me like you might just be angry.

Quot homines, tot sententiae. It's the same shit as people talking up their cars while complaining about the cars of others, they're just trying to justify a large purchase to themselves by crushing any nagging feelings of doubt or regret with "my thing is the best thing". Best to ignore it and the pc gaming "community", you can have fun building and playing games on a pc without ever caring about such rubbish

Most laptops don't have a secondary mpcie port, so you might have to unplug your wifi card if it doesn't.

A way to find out if it does is to see if your alienware is advertised as having the ability to "upgrade storage capacity". Gaming laptops that advertise this usually have a secondary mpcie slot where consumers can install additional storage. This is where I hooked up my gpu dock instead since I already have a 1 TB ssd inside the laptop.

I have a R9 270. Should I replace it with GTX 950? They're cheap now
>>
OP looks exactly like my 650ti, god I just wanna upgrade already. Why does the 8GB 1070 have to be at a price where I can just build a current mid-class pc instead? Really don't wanna go back to AMD.

Will the 4GB version become obsolete fast?
>>
>>342099050
Same dude
>>
>>342103034
Eh, I probably am. I'm just sick of people that are like, "if you can't constantly afford the absolute best that a specific hobby/passtime has to offer, then why do it at all"? That shit really brings down the community, you know?
>>
>>342102941
It isn't I have probably bought 4k worth of stuff through them and they have been great.

Going to be getting the new AMD card through them too
>>
>>342102941
Nothing. BH is amazing in general with shipping times everywhere. Just don't order on the weekend or during any Jewish holiday/

I only use them for most of my photography stuff, but I know people to use it for other electronic goods.
>>
>>342096287
Told you wait bro. Also general reminder to wait for HBM2.

I have a Dell 15 gaming laptop. It has an extra port since it comes with an m.2 ssd. I already have a tb hdd but I'm considering replacing it with an ssd and removing the m.2 ssd.

Cool, man. My last laptop only had one and I had to use a usb wifi adapter whenever I had the dock hooked up to my old laptop.
>>
>>342096287

I did a month before the 1080 announcement. I did even need too, I could of waited. But Fallout 4 is such a badly optimised shit my 650ti wouldn't run it well above medium so I thought "Why not upgrade?"

>>342096387
Why not its a good card
>>
>>342104080
I also have one of those so either way I'm ready. Thanks man I appreciate the tips. I hope it works because for 50 bucks plus 250 for the 8gb rx 480 I'm ready to throw some recent titles at my laptop.
>>
>>342104112
It's gonna be an outdated card soon. Specially with the cost to performance of the rx 480 it'll blow the 960 the fuck out.
>>
>building a new PC
>im sick of playing games on this ancient craptop for years
>new generation cards are coming
>determined to wait for RX480 release to make the best buy
>"dude just wait for vega with hbm2 in like october lol"

GODDAMNIT I CANT TAKE THIS ANYMORE

Build it with the rx 480 then hold off until hbm2 costs drop. It'll be too expensive anyways unless AMD has voodoo magic and it's cheap as its come to be expected from them.
>>
>>342104804
It'll still outperform the 960. No need to wait on benchmarks for that.
>>
>>342104804
Either way, 960 is a shit-tier card.
>>
The 480 took a big shit on the used card market
>>
>>342104981
Yes, that's definitely true. I'm just worried about whether or not the RX 480 is gonna meet the hype.

I really hope it does, though. A $200 980 killer sounds like a nice, financially reasonable replacement my aging 970.
>>
>>342104604
And it will still run everything at high settings. Up until Fallout 4 my 650 ti was doing a good job too.
>>
>>342102636
Eyyyy I use the same card. We def need an upgrade, the 7850 hd still sort of works but lots of games are really pulling in the big effects that my card is beginning to be unable to handle with only 2gb vram
>>
>>342092594
970 will drop ridiculously when the 1080 comes out. Godo time to buy a memecard

It maxes nearly everything at 1080p. Totally worth it if it drops low enough.
>>
>>342105209

Are you seriously calling a 970 "aging"? You must be one of the consumerist people who always need to have the latest and the greatest.
>>
>>342107228
no
>>
>>342092594
Nvidia cards will become cheaper when they make a full, non-paper launch mid-August
>>
>>342101901
Same boat. What an overclocking beast too. Got my 2gb sapphire at 1225Mhz core.

Wonder if the 8gb 480 is worth the extra $50.
>>
>>342101997
Yeah, my brother bought a case and psu for about $60 and I'm just giving him the rest, and it will still be better than a ps4 over all.
