The top image served a dual purpose, to show the audience the graphical style that the game would be using, but mostly to show the audience the significant change in how the world would be interacted with. Nintendo boys aren't really graphics snobs so downgrade doesn't mean much to them, although the game still looks pretty nice regardless.

Then the presentation happen, everyone is blown away, and they realise they were completely wrong. A normal person would say'' oh well, i was wrong '' and continue living normally, but this is /v/. the rest of it is because, first of all, yes, its only running in 720p not 1080p on the wiiu, obviously, but the bottom screenshot is just as obviously cherry-picked to make the game look bad as the top one is to make it look good. watch some streams and you'll see that by and large the game looks pretty good for a wiiu (i.e. ps360 level of hardware) game with some unfortunately fairly noticeable pop-in being its biggest graphical failing
hopefully the top screenshot is going to turn out representative of the NX version, which (supposing the NX to be about on par with the PSXbone in terms of power) is not at all unrealistic
