Those are not even the best gloves.
The best ones make some sort of sonic blast the throws your target back.

I've been using the Super-heated Saturnite Fist from OWB and it seems really strong.
That bullshit attack speed + fire damage is too good. Looks cool too with the glow effect.

I want to say ADoM or NWN, but I don't know if it's really right: those classes are seriously overpowered. You can break toughest armor with your bare fists, and are literally untouchable.

So, looks like I'll be hunting one of those down ASAP. All that's left is finalizing my starting S.P.E.C.I.A.L. and picking skills. Anyone got some suggestions? I've never done a melee/unarmed build in NV, so I'm not sure how I should focus my points. I usually tend to go small guns, speech, science and security, so I prioritize INT and PER/AGI.

I'm guessing I'll need a bit more END than normal, as I'll be Fist of the North Starring people as opposed to my usual shotgun justice. Strength is obviously going to be important, as is Luck. More critical hits means less time spent per enemy. All of the important skill mags and whatnot will have to be gotten as quickly as possible, to avoid spending points in skills I can easily cap with the points from the items.

I think this run will be quite enjoyable, as it will be wildly different from my usual play style. Part of me wants to take Boone for backup, but I feel like I'd be cheating myself out of the joy I'd get from pulping the denizens of the wasteland with my bare hands.

Monks get the shaft in pretty much any PnP system. I usually have to home brew a Monk if one of my players wants to roll one, as they tend to fall behind rather quickly. Full BAB and/or reducing their MAD by allowing them to use Dex in place of Strength for to-hit and damage usually helps them quite a bit.

Their style and lore in MoP was handled in a very clean way; although they were hindered by the shit MMO engine, the feel of the class was still very unique and you really felt like a martial artist.

Fantasycraft can be used for standart-fantasy games and tend to make good unarmed characters. Want to add some mysticism? There is a monk advanced class that gives you wuxia-style archetypes.

Want something more cyberpunk? Shadowrun has adepts, which use magic to enhance their abilities. An unarmed character usualy is an adept with alot of unarmed powers that make you be able to outpunch alot of stuff. Don't like magic in it? You can also use cyberlimbs and other stuff to enhance your natural punching abilities.

Want neither of them? How about exalted, where you do stuff in a more indian/chinese/japanese setting and play as literarely superhumans. Become the fluff-less brawler or put points into martial arts so you gain special bullshit.

Alot of other PnP games also do a decent job at doing unarmed build decent. Just stay away from DnD 3.X and pathfinder, as those are the biggest offenders with shit-monks.
