There's different styles of anime/manga. The type the PS2 versions uses it the "am I kawai uguu~" type, in which deformation is focused around the eyes than anything else. One of the worst.

Will I like this game if I like Tales combat? It looks like they're doing the same shit as the Tales team and focusing more on making the game look nice with a big empty open world and transition well into combat than actually focusing on the combat itself. From what I've seen it looks pretty slow and boring. I like Tales games like Vesperia and Xillia 2.

Well, then you have an open mind, I sure as hell felt slightly annoyed by the fact the Director went out of his way to mock those behind SO4, yet SO5 arguably did not make things better, it even managed to be shorter.
- 24 hours main campaign, no, not a single skipped cutscene, because there aren't many cutscenes to begin with, most of the plot is told by the characters talking amongst themselves on the field.
- 5 hours of side-quests.
- Private-Actions are not in the same vein as SO2 and SO3, which would determine the Protagonist's lover, or his best buddy, it is SO4 all over again, it's just a mean to know the Party members better, so Miki is basically the forced implied love interest.
- Little variety in locations, it's just one planet like SO1, but even so that game had plenty of different locations, that's not the case with SO5, you even find yourself retracing your path as an excuse for "new" areas, now with higher level enemies.
- Virutally no Post-Game content, which is ludricous, as bad as SO4 was in many parts, it still had an absolutely great serving of post-game dungeons.
TL:DR: Fiore cannot be made into Fidel's lover, that sucks.
