All the time when I was younger, the most recent was a few years ago we played the original borderlands together a bit, he really liked it.

And a bit of black Ops 1

Yes.

We used to play Socom US Navy seals 1 and 2 religiously together online and stomp would even let me skip homework sometimes to play with him.

After that died we played WoW together up until Cata.

As a kid him and I played Mario Party and Paper Mario on the N64.
Mario Party was lots of fun, and he wouldn't go easy on me either which was great. If he had an opportunity to stab me in the back then he'd take it. It really forced me to git gud in order to keep up with him.
Paper Mario was fun because I haven't really touched any RPGs before that. i was mostly a platform baby and was intimidated by games like Final Fantasy. My best memories of Paper Mario and him were whenever I needed to use Bombette's bomb attacks I'd call him over. The man was a fucking robot and had a rapid fire trigger finger. He'd take a deep breath and the bar would literally fill up in half a second.
>mfw he displayed his hidden power of the finger flex

Dude was a madman.
>>

Watched my dad play crystal caverns when II was 3-4ish

that was basically it

I wish I was able to, but he would never offer to join in and would just make embarrassing "parent comments" you know the ones, the retarded rhetorical questions they already know the answer to and show that they have no interest in learning about the game from afar.

That and that fact my parents never read any of the 16th to 18th century classic novels they got me as a child on top of moving to a new school district in first grade pretty much assured my future as an antisocial lump that felt like no one ever cared

I love my parents, but they were unequivocally shit at raising kids
>>
not really. we played Super Mario Bros back when my brother and i got our NES for Christmas.

i remember he tried playing Final Fantasy 7 at my birthday party in like 2000. he got to the first boss, which was impressive for him

We play Mario kart a lot even though he loses most of the time he doesn't mind

When I was younger I watched him play stuff like Yoshi's Island and StarFox because I couldn't beat those games. We also played Donkey Kong Country together a lot. When I got a bit older we played stuff like Smash Bros, SoulCalibur, and Marvel vs Capcom. Once in a while we still play Smash.

When i was a kid every now and then my dad would bring me new games, there was no internet, no magazine, nothing he could only see a box or read whats it about and maybe hear a few things and he would waste a whole day to bring me a game or two he thinks i would like

He never played with me as he never really got it but the act of learning about games and searching for games I'd like was something i even then really appreciated even tho it was more about the games than his efforts

I did play with my mom, she was and still is a gamer
Hell she bought ne StarCraft 2 because i started on sc1 because she was playing it, she played tomb raider with me but i would play more and she would read a guide we would print out and translate if we got stuck on a puzzle

Damn they both really tried hard and I'm grateful for it
>>
>Raised by a single mom
We would play Harvest Moon and take turns together. And then we'd watch Tenchi in Love 2 where she would fast forward through the sex scenes. She bought me a Charizard card.

I made a fan for my dad when I was 6 because that was our arts n crafts project. He said "Don't be a wuss, this is shit and for girls."
Then mom bought me Sonic and Knuckles.

Now my dad is on meth.
>>
I played Socom 2 with my dad years ago.

Thinking of getting some new games for the PS4 that the whole family can enjoy together.

A little early on. I could barely read so we'd sit together playing adventure games and he'd read stuff to me and tell me how to spell things to type in the parser.

He and my mom got into SMB a little too but not really. He liked some golfing games back around Win95. But mostly he just stood back and let me enjoy gaming through the years.

No because my dad was old enough to my grandfather by the time I was born. He didn't have any idea what video games were aside from all the dumb rumors going around that they would melt your brain and shit. He'd shit on me constantly for playing vidya, and he still does now.

Ironically his job had him working in front of a computer all the damn time and everytime he got home he'd either watch tv, sit in front of the computer, or both.

My dad is the only reason I got into video games in the first place.

Parents were big on new tech, and had both an Atari and an NES when it came out. Some of my earliest memories were of going to the store to actually buy one. Stores were a lot cooler back then.

My dad would play Super Mario 1 and my cousin had all of the Nintendo Powers with maps and passages, he'd come over with cool shit like Metroid and Zelda; dude had the fuckhuge NES Advantage.

My mom didn't really allow me to play games since she thought I was too young, but my dad always encouraged it. I was beating bosses on Zelda 2 by the time I was 5.

They also divorced by the time I was 5
>>

My dad was real into arena shooters and such like, Tribes, UT2003, Quake 3, CS and such. He got me into UT2003 and soon after, Lineage II. Then WoW came out and we switched to that. I remember watching over his shoulder when the hand of rag dropped first for our guild. Good times.
>>
>>342061797

so did you become the man of the house then?

*wink**wink*
>>
>>342052509

Yes, he loved computers. I distinctly remember mechwarrior being our first game on our brand new computer. Eventually we got two and would link up to play all the quakes and starcraft, and I would get him cussing and upset by whooping his ass. I got to experience the golden age of FPS because of my old man

God damn those were good times. Too bad he turned into a distant drunk in my teen years.

My dad never gave a shit about video games and was never around when I was growing up. He and my mom would fight a lot whenever he was and I would always have to try to stop it.

I tried getting past that and meeting him about a year ago as an adult and I couldn't relate to him at all. He kept trying to do guy talk and ask if I'd fucked any girls yet (hadn't at the time). Didn't seem very interested in my life.

After that I decided maybe I was better off without him in it. I don't really feel anything for him anymore.

Sorry for the blog, /v/. There's definitely a void there that'll never be filled. Make sure you appreciate your dads.

My mom was a single mom who raised me and my sister after she left my father who was abusive. She treated us like dirt 90% of the time to vent her frustrations and had horrible anger issues that led to her threatening my sister with a knife. Basically the only good memory I have of her is once when I was home sick from school and she came in and we took turns playing the space invaders game for the N64 since I only had one controller. I used to watch him play scary games it was fun.

I tried to get my dad to play through skyward sword last summer. He can't do more than one thing at a time and flails like the possessed whenever he gets into a sword fight. Somehow I was able to help him get through the first dungeon and all the way to the second boss but he hasn't made any progress since.

One time I squatted down, reached my fingers around to the buttons, and shoved the NES Advantage joystick up my ass while I was playing Zelda. Its a lot more challenging and a lot more enjoyable that way, but I wouldn't recommend it for platformers because after a while you get used to the position and its just and uncomfortable way to have you hand. Zelda on the contrary, works great because you're constantly changing directions and therefore constantly changing the stimuli in your asshole. One time I tried taping a dildo to the end of the stick because it wasn't reaching far back enough for me, but it was too distracting and instead of playing the game I just ended up fucking my ass for awhile. To this day the Zelda theme puts me in the mood for some anal.

Some of my best memories are playing splinter cell games with my dad and swapping controllers when someone died or set off an alarm

He bought FEAR and The Darkness to play of his own accord too and we talked about them a lot. for someone whos beaten maybe 10 video games in his life he had pretty good taste
not that hes dead or anything but i moved out and we havent played anything together for a couple of years

Back in the day when I was about 12, my dad bought Gran Turismo 4, and my dad my brother and I all played on the same account. Every night we'd sit down and take turns getting the licences, and racing our (commonly) owned cars, ugrading them
and saving up for new ones after compromising on which one we'd get (In GT4 you actually had to grind for cars and upgrade no joke, every upgrade was a HUGE achievement).
We got so into it we ended up buying a driving wheel. This went on for about a year straight. Probably the best memory of my adolescence.

10/10 interest.

My father was always interested in the Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, Black Ops.. etc series - I did play though the campaign on the hardest difficulty iirc. We also spent time getting all the unlocks in multiplayer and finding tactics to induce rage on the other team. Quite the memory to behold, and that was for like every one of those releases, one after another. We don't play very much anymore, being in college and stuff - hopefully ill get to find time to play with him again.

Played a fair bit of Super Bases Loaded 2 on SNES with my father when I was five or six. I also watched him playthrough Police Quest: SWAT--the terrible FMV police game Sierra put out in the mid 90s. He was a police officer at the time and got a hoot out of the fudging of mechanics and piss-poor acting. That game scared the shit out of me when I would watch him take down pistol-packing senile old ladies.

>fats in the fire, go go go

Me and my older brother would play war of the monsters all the time, may dad would join and beat us. I would go easy on him so hed win, and one day i told him so. We all went again and i went all out. Turns out he was going easy on me too.
>>
My dad and I play Super Monkey Ball all the time. He loves the Monkey Target minigame and is surprisingly good at it.

Never played much with him but he liked watching me play GTA and enjoyed it when I would run over peds.

the few times we did play together it would be fighting games in which he would be that asshole who would use that one annoying move like a sweeping kick the entire time god dammit I miss him..

I did. I told him about how I went to a concert, listened to him bitch about niggers at work, and told him that I was happy that my car insurance went down and that I'm getting paid Tuesday because I'm going to buy a case of Pabst because I'm a wageslave and drink the entire pack. He told me I should buy some Landsharks, instead.

We then joked about driving cross-country on motorcycles and enjoying ourselves in the Rockies.

I hope he had a good day, because he said he went out to the beach with my mom.

I hope he lives for a long time to see me have kids, and a wife.

I love you dad.

My dad was always really into tech, so as soon as I was old enough he was introducing me to computers and video games.
He never really plays them himself (aside from phone shit), but he's always appreciated the work that goes into them.

One of my earliest memories is him trying to teach me how to play Mech Warrior 2, despite not having any idea himself.
We're pretty sure he is autistic, or at least somewhere on the spectrum, because of his behaviour and tendency to take everything literally. But he's still always tried to be a good dad, even if it ended up leaving me with issues down the line.

After my parents bought me a 360 for Christmas, my dad would play Gear of War with my younger sister and I. He thought I was too young to talk to strangers online though, so whenever I played online, he would wear the mic and shittalk people about how his 10 year old son was kicking their asses. It was fun. He showed me Doom as well, which I fucking love now. My sister and I still play Gears together as well, I played ultimate edition for the first time today on her Xbone before rewatching the original Robocop with dad, it was fun.

Not like co-op/multi-player thing but more like he was besides me when I was playing. Most of the time he was helping by translating stuff because I was too young and didn't know enough english. Sometimes he would give me ideas about how to beat a level/boss if it was too difficult or I was totally clueless. He also commented on the game and we chatted while I was playing.

>tfw I don't need him anymore to translate things for me
>tfw I can beat games on my own
>tfw from time to time he just knocks on the door, ask me how I'm doing, what I'm playing and goes back to his room.

Those times were like a family event. We had some snacks together and played during the afternoon.

Crash Team Racing and Age of Empires.
I've been trying to make him learn how to play Smash so me and my brothers would have a 4th player but he pretends to be retarded and prefers to watch YouTube videos which I can only describe as Let's Plays but with motorcycles.
