i played through it earlier this year. its pretty fun and worth getting if you enjoyed the others. the story is pretty cool and the new matrix system is... interesting. not as good as Dragonfall but still a enjoyable game

I really, really fucking hate the hacking. I could tolerate it in Dragonfall but the real time moving and dodging is so goddamn infuriating that it almost kills it for me. Otherwise it's awesome.

Oh god, reminds of one of the missions near the end of the game. Timed decking sequence in the middle of a meatspace firefight. Forced combat while in the Matrix as well.
Realized after the 15th attempt that putting all my stats into meatspace combat was a bad idea and I had to roll back like 2 hours of progress. So fucking bullshit.

If you liked Dragonfall, I do think HK worth that price of admission.
As with all Shadorun Returns campaigns, it has its rough spots, and the engine is clearly starting to show its limits (I do hope after they're done with resurrecting Battletech they'll come back to Shadowrun and get enough resources to build a new, engine), but HK has its own strengths and flaws, and depending on what you're interested most in those games, you might like it more than others, but it's pretty solid, and even if you like it less, it's going to be enjoyable.

It totally does. I only use them when the hacking gets too frustrating. The game's easy enough without them but when you've had to reload five times to get the fucking hacking right it really helps to cut down the bullshit.

That was fucking amazing for me playing as a Decker with Rachter, Gobbet, and Gaichu. Shit was so fucking intense, my eyes started to burn a little. Between not wanting to fuck up Raymond's brain and wanting to keep my IRL self not disconnected from the Matrix, that was easily one of the most intense sections of any game I've played.

It's pretty much the same across the board. I think the writing is a little more wordy than Dragonfall? I don't know but I found myself skipping a couple of dialogues to this one compared to Dragonfall, all the conversations are still top notch though. Gameplay is pretty much the exact same with a couple of minor tweaks here and there.

I don't get the massive praise for Dragonfall. The story had horrendous pacing, like 90% of the game was just busywork to get the money for the final mission. The gameplay was pretty solid, but not outstanding. The interactivity with the world was pretty bad.

Getting the money for Alice does drag on longer than it needs to, but I like how the other missions show that there's other things going on in the world than just your current job you don't really know much about in the first place. Would worked fine if you discovered things about Feuerchwinge and Vauclair and etc during the missions themselves instead of just from watching DVDs in between.
