What do you do when you lose a save file that you have logged very many hours on?
I grab one of the multiple backups on several different devices
>>342022880
Start a new character.
>>342022880
It has happened to me maybe four times. I just start over. In some cases skip cutscenes. The first time it happened was with Chrono Trigger and I was maybe 14 y/o, I think I cried.
Get mad as fuck and then immediately feel super sad
>>342022880
Let it go
>>342023529
I am feeling this way a little bit right now, i don't know what i should do
Depends on the game. Usually I'll start again soon after but some games I just leave for a while and come back to later.
>>342022880
import a backup.
Honestly, I am used to this, seeing how broken PC gaming and, in fact, the whole saving thing was back in the day.
>>342023610
You'll go through the stages of grief and eventually you'll cool off enough to start over.or you'll stop playing it forever. Fuck you, skies of Arcadia
>lose save for Game 1 with 635 hours played
>"meh who cares, I didn't play anymore anyway.. nor did I intend to go back to it"
>Game 2 comes out
>carries over save along with all progress, continuing in the 2nd part where you left off
>>342022880
Why do some games use this weird thing as their save symbol?
>>342024005
it's a floppy disk, it just works
>>342024005
It's called a flappy disc and back then CD drives were square and if the calibration was off the sharp flappy would literally saw your computer in half. Those were dark days.
>>342024005
You've gotta be 18+ to post here.
>tfw my PSP memory stick recently corrupted
>250+ hours on MHFU gone
JUST
>>342024997
You gotta lurk moar
>>342023246
>tfw you do a manual daily backup (can't easily rotate in-game) but play like 16+ hours and the save corrupts when you were about to stop playing and do a new backup
>>342022880
Find the backup in this.
There are more disks because of less capacity.
This never happens to me anymore because I'm always careful about this shit.
With that said, I'd imagine that if it was a long game and I lost all progress on it, I'd just never play it again. It'd have to be a reallyyyyyyyy good game for me to replay it.
>not using a Bernoulli drive to back your stuff up.
I shiggy diggy.
>>342025373
A friend knocked my psp out of my hands years ago while it was saving in MHFU. I lost 1200 hours. That one was painful.
>>342024004
Name ONE (1) game.
>>342022880
I never play it again.
>>342023610
just fuck your girl friend, that always cheers me up
>look man, 50 MEGAS disk..
>wut, how
>its another drive called ZIP drive and use something similar to a 3&1/2 inch drive, but a little thicker
>cool
>tfw too poor for ZIP drives.
>>342022880
I get slightly mad for a few minutes and then get over it and start over or play something else for a while and then return later.
>>342026506
what the fuck are you talking about
If I'm on pc I download a save. If I'm on console I sell the game. Happened with Yakyza 3 after about 30 hours. I tried to download a save but after researching I found they didn't work on another person's account because of fucking trophies.
>>342026928
>selling Yakuza
Why would you do that anon
>>342026928
how does downloading a save work? I have DLd this System shock 2 save but i don't know how to load it. (using linux)
>>342026460
white knight chronicles 2
I guess those MH-clone type with upgrades (soul sacrifice, toukiden, etc..) are a similar deal as well
I accidentally reformatted the wrong drive last week. Lost all my emulation saves and nearly everything on steam. I haven't recovered yet. I don't even know what to play now.
>>342028012
>Not deleting steam games after one month of finishing them
I shiggy diggy
>>342028376
I have a horrible habit of starting long new games before I finish what I'm playing so my backlog gets ridiculous
>>342028640
Same here
What's worse is when I start replaying games and my backlog stays the same
