I've never had the city tell us to stop using our AC, but when I was a kid my dad put one of those window ACs in my room because I was in the hottest room in the house. The head of the neighborhood association told us to remove it because it didn't look nice. But they said nothing to the guy who had the same model home as us and had an AC in the exact same window.

The refrigerator tries to hold a certain temperature, usually around 3-5°C. If your computer is inside, generating heat, the refrigerator would go apeshit in order to keep the temperature, resulting in it generating a lot of heat. It basically turns into a radiator.
