All previous "clever" DRM systems fucked up PCs so I'm sure as hell not taking a risk with this one.
Starforce bricked one of my PCs to the point that I had to format-C reinstall Windows to get it back working.
A lot of the old Id fanbase grew up to be Linux guys. The games basically forced you to get into servers and networking. The fact that the games were all released for Linux with the engines becoming open source helped with that as well since they were some of the only games you could actually play on Linux back then.
Its kind of funny, Doom and Quake used to be the games for Linux users to buy and play and now that there are over a million Linux gamers and thousands of games this one comes out as Windows + Consoles only and is having trouble getting sales. My money is on Epic and Unreal Tournament.
