Cool gameplay mechanics ultimately can't excuse terrible level design, forced walking/set piece garbage, QTE's, bad pacing and just general garbage campaigns.

not really. The sliding/dodging was borderline useless, felt like you didn't go anywhere, and has no I Frames to speak of.

My Brother bought Rev2 and we played through the first two chapters split screen and had mad fun. But now due to work constraints and schedules and shit we never seem to get the time to play together. Would it be worth buying it to play through it single player or should I wait until he has holidays?

Personally it's fun on SPer too, but, I think the way the game handles co-op personally makes the game really shine.
Honestly, if you're not too concerned with it just wait until your brother has some free time. It's not too much of a loss and it's not a very long game anyways. I think there are only like 5 total chapters (each with a Claire and Barry section), so technically 10 chapters?

Naw, revelations 2 was a better game. I did have fun playing re6 co op though.

7/10 is about right. It was a good game, just not great in any sense. Also one of the most ambitious Japanese games ever which is admirable.
So far it's sounding better than what RE7 is shaping up to be.
