So /v/, what's your favorite System Shock game?
Do you prefer BioShock?
Are you looking forward to System Shock 3?
For me I think SS1 has better exploration and puzzles, but SS2 has better combat. I'm really curious to see what direction they'll take the 3rd one in.
I thought system shock 2 was just more well thought out than the original system shock.
I just don't want them to water it down for system shock 3, but I know that's exactly what's going to happen
>>341964083
yeah the first game was kind of a clusterfuck, but to me I think it still has a charm to it that I think the sequel lacks
I really like how the first game ties in with the sequel, but since most people skip to SS2 they'll miss out on the whole beta grove thing
I hope they bring back cyberspace levels for the 3rd game
my life right now
I'm enjoying the game now thanks to the mouselook in enhanced edition, but I remember the first time I fired up the game in DOSbox, played with it for 30 seconds, then said "absolutely fucking not"
>>341963627
I actually played System Shock 1 to completion before playing System Shock 2
ask me anything
>>341967227
write down the numbers on the monitors in the cpu rooms (the rooms with the big destroyable node things that lower shodan's security level)
>>341963627
SS1 is way better
>>341967227
also using z,x,c to lean around corners is a good way to take out enemies since they usually don't notice you that way
Who's the best Rebecca,
Rebecca Lansing or Rebecca Siddons?
>>341967741
meant for >>341967449
fuck
>>341967741
siddons is a roastie
>>341967227
>>341967509
This, it's crucial
You will need that shit later and discovering that I now needed to go revisit every fucking CPU room was not a happy moment
And the numbers are randomized for every new game, so you can't look them up online
>>341967741
Lansing:
>has my back
>gives me advice
>tells me classified shit
Siddons:
>bumbles around in the background
>gets possessed by a supercomputer somehow (???)
I think the answer is clear
>>341967957
>And the numbers are randomized for every new game, so you can't look them up online
Actually they fucked that up in the enhanced edition and the code is always 539579
>>341963627
ss1 is hands down the best
>>341967227
>>341967509
>>341967957
the alternate controls and mouselook make it way too easy (they are also mods for the original) the only real advanage is no lag at high resolutions
also EE has the reactor code bug where it is the same every playthrough
>>341968059
Oh shit, I looked at the txt where I wrote it down and you're right, that's what it was for me
So yeah >>341967227 if you're playing EE just go with 539579
>>341968059
>>341968191
>>341968336
if it's a bug they need to fix that shit, but I'm not entirely convinced they didn't do it on purpose so plebs could google it
there's too much handholding these days, players need to feel retarded every once in a while
>>341968475
whether its a bug or not i doubt they will ever fix it.
it's not that big of a deal though since you can always just play with dosbox
I think 1 and 2 are about equal, would love some more cyberspace stuff to return in a third game. Bioshock is kind of okay for what it is but horseshit as a spiritual sequel the the real Shock games
>>341967957
>gets possessed by a supercomputer somehow (???)
I think the two most prevailing theories are that Shodan altered Rebecca's brain with a hacked reconstruction machine or surgical bay she used (there's an audio log where she mentions she's injured), or that she somehow did it during the time when she basically hacked the universe with the ftl drive
either way I'm excited to see if they do something cool with weird cyborg demon shodan in SS3, or if they'll just drop that concept entirely
it'd be cool for her to have a more hands-on role as an antagonist for a change, rather than just dictating minions from behind a screen
System Shock 2. It's not nostalgia for me, since I played it for the first time about 5 years ago. I also tried the version of System Shock 1 on strangebedfellows (which is now known as systemshock.org) and never finished it. I bought the enhanced edition and played trough it in two days, it was a great experience as well.
My first contact to the series was BioShock and while it is inferior as a game, it will always hold a special place in my heart. I just love the setting and the audio design very much.
I am waiting for the ss1 remake and ss3. Might even be worth for a hardware upgrade.
liked SS1, SS2 and bioshock. All good games. However I'm cautious about SS1 remake and SS3. Remakes and reboots tend to always be fuck ups.
