So /v/, what's up with this merch? Why did square make this thing look like a grave? The display was cool but the Lion emblem would probably fall off if you daily carried it.
Vidya Merch thread. Stuff you wanted, stuff you bought, things you missed, post it all here.
The FFVII zippo set would be the Holy Grail of all Vidya Merch. The cloud lighter alone sold for over $500 at auction.
I should've jumped on these back in 1996.
I wouldn't have the heart to sell them. These motherfuckers would have to be pried from my cold dead hands.
>smoking
Only fucking degenerates smoke. Merch like this makes all true gamers look like deviants and anyone who supports it should burn.
Final fantasy is a shit series anyway, so I can see why they would sell this merch to its fedora lord fan base.
It's funny because this is around the time Square got cancer.
>>341955749
Because smoking kills you. Why wouldn't it look like a grave?
>>341956329
I'd say that was a little later. Probably around the time of the Enix merger.
>>341956329
Whoa hey, lets not say things we can't take back. Square wasn't terminal until FF10 at the earliest. that or "spirits within."
>>341956701
>this merch is 20 years old
>>341956291
I don't smoke. A nice lighter is always good merch though.
So Final Fantasy XV merch includes character Perfumes.
Why? Does anyone who plays Vidya (especially JRPGs) use Cologne/perfume
>>341955749
>>341955920
>>341956158
>it's just a zippo with "Final Fantasy" written on it
I could understand if character from the game used one or something, but this just seems like marketing for the sake of marketing (and money)
>>341956291
>implying tobacco is the only thing anyone ever needs to set fire to
This a buyfag thread? I never buy this kinda crap, but I've been so tempted by pic related that I'm willing to look past the markup.
>>341957139
>Why?
because
>Does anyone who plays Vidya (especially JRPGs) use Cologne/perfume
you can take my Tom Ford from my cold dead hands
>>341956291
>>341957145
What about Cid? Genuine Smoker in Vidya character.
Granted his lighter didn't have his face engraved in it. Probably.
>>341957216
>implying anyone uses Zippos to light anything but cancer sticks
>>341957145
Back in the 90's everything had a zippo. They used to do merch for all kinds of stuff. Dark horse comics used to release these all the time. (Pic related)
Is buying figures degenerate?
I don't own any but there are some out there burning my wallet.
>>341957331
Do you like the character? The figure looks good? Are you willing to pay the price? If yes to all them, get it.
I'd like to get necklace with Griever symbol in it to be honest.
But I'm mostly interested in artbooks and such for now.
>>341957651
>Is buying figures degenerate?
If you really ask this question, collecting shit is not your hobby.
>>341957424
What about concerts? Zippos are a staple of concerts.
>>341957632
Thats Fucking amazing. WANT.
>>341957424
I don't think I've ever met a smoker who actually uses a zippo to smoke. It's either a Bic or a match if they forgot their Bic. I imagine a smoker who had one would tip their fedora after lighting it.
>>341957669
But I don't even know where I'd put it. I would say yes to all three but the issue becomes where to display it.
>>341957789
What I mean is, if I have guests at my apartment and a figure on display, what would someone's impression be upon seeing it? Even a really beautiful intricate one?
>>341957795
Didn't they get replaced for concerts way back when the iPhone came out?
>>341957673
I had a really high quality griever necklace years ago. It was official merch (square also released a really low-quality one too), but I never wore it.
>>341958456
Probably more by people filming concerts with their phones, but yeah I remember when you used to see a lot of lighter apps. Back then the iPhone couldn't even record video without a jailbreak.
>>341958314
IKEA DETOLF, read the buyfag guide on /a/.
My friends and family don't care and sometimes they even like them, somehow I managed to display my figures with my consoles, games, DVD/BD movies and my books and looks kinda cool.
If you could buy it, Would you /v/?

>>341959062
>not wanting a gunblade hanging on your wall
I know a guy who has one. Not the same quality as in the video but it's still pretty cool. Do you hate fun? It's just an item from a video game.
>>341958792
I want, but the social consequences are breaking me.
>>341957331
>>341957651
just buy the fucking figure sometimes you´ll fell regret, then you will be glad you buy it. in the end you´ll stop caring and the figure end over a shelve or a box
>>341959614
Should I?
I can't believe my backwater country has stocked up some figures and for so cheap. How bad could the quality be?
>>341958953
That ended up looking really good. It's still retarded since the gunblade was always retarded but still really good.
I have never smoked in my life, but my dad and his family were smokers (he managed to quit after nearly 30 years though god damn), so I grew up around a lot of novelty shaped ash trays and shit. My mom used to have this really beautiful elephant shaped glass bong, and a lighter shaped like a tube of lipstick, she didn't smoke either though, she just thought they were pretty. So stuff like zippers makes me all nostalgic.
You have no idea how much I want this. Almost twenty years and counting now.
>>341958807
>halfway through every build/forge they improvise or put their own spin on some detail

Every fucking time.
I WANTED A HEADCRAB PLUSHIE HAT AND KEEPT LEAVING IT FOR LATER AND NOW THEY'RE OUT OF STOCK FOREVER.

I'm gonna pleb up this thread, but I always wanted a songbird plushie after seeing them in the game. The ones you can buy don't look nearly as nice though.
>>341960135
Do those eyes actually light up, or has that been touched up?
>>341960149
Could be worse. They could be filter-less. The Cigarettes of Promised Death.
Would you a sword ?

Comes out this October, if you want. I'd preorder though, 1/8 PVCs don't last.
>>341960982
> scabbard
Why not Just display it without the scabbard? It's not like you're carrying it in public.
Still got mine sitting in a safe somewhere along with a bunch of 1st edition cards. Wonder if they're worth anything these days, but I'm guessing not much.
>Quick google later
>First Edition Charizards are going for 1500 USD
Holy shit.
>>341961869
aaand pic didn't attach.
>>341960273
If you find it you won't want to pa that aftermarket price. Plushes on the aftermarket go for some insane prices, I guarantee you won't be willing to pay $170 for that
>>341961398
That would look amazing on my wall.
Epic is an understatement.
>>341961869
That's only what memeloving fucks TRY to sell it for.
1ED Charizard in mint condition is worth $300, played is $40.
>>341961845
Because I like the Avalons design more than Excaliburs.
>>341957139
Little tiny pic of a character on there, hey it's official merch now!
>>341961842
Thanks for the info
still amazing either way.
>>341961942
>I guarantee you won't be willing to pay $170 for that
You'd be surprised
>>341962082
No worries.
Keep in mind, most PVCs that company's sell aren't 1:1 with their promo release pictures. Those are generally handpainted and cleaned up by the sculptor for the photo teasers.
The ones you buy are still damn good but some have minor defects (excess PVC from the mould, discolorations or paint spots where they don't belong). It's not a huge deal but some people have autismo fits about it.
>>341961842
Okay. It's amazing without lit-up eyes but that would've created some interesting display ideas.
That's steep though. I'd easily pay $100 for it, but $200+ after shipping is heartbreaking.
>>341961993
There isn't an actual forged steel recreation of it though.
I wish I would have got Mercedes and Velvet too
>>341962905
> VanillaWare
AWWW HELL YES!!
>>341959950
What is it anon?
>>341961941
These things aren't worth shit anymore m8, you can buy them on eBay for like $15.
>>341961398
The only thing that bugged me was that they kept saying they were making the dragon slayer when the title aeven says they weren't.
>>341964436
Yeah they kind of fucked up there. Gut's golden age sword weighed around 50lbs so the dragonslayer would be at least twice that.
Guts is fucking terrifying.
>>341964436
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfOAgKA7h7g
Perhaps you guys will be more interested in this video.
Anyone tra/v/elers ever pick up one of these replicas?
I remember being a kid and seeing them advertised in magazines like Cinefantastique. Always wanted one but never even seen an example in person.
Also, is a new KOTOR actually happening or is it confirmed stuff of dreams.
I'd like the concert poster from Transistor since my walls are pretty empty and it's relatively discreet.
They also sell a flash drive that looks like the transistor, which would be kinda neat to own but I don't really need more flash drives.
>>341964690
The Dragonslayer is the cooler sword, but the Men at Arms ReForged Golden age sword is the superior build.
The Men at Arms sword was actually hammer forged and pressed while the dragonslayer by mike is cut from a piece of steel and is not a 1:1 dragonslayer recreation.
For $40, this classic style link figure is badass, especially if you compare it to the garbage that was his Amiibo.
The best merch is productions of things from games that actually function how they're supposed to.
>>341966582
Was this ever sold outside Japan?
finally got this on pre order
heres the rest of my collection

>>341956291

Fucking lol, what is with you fucking losers and this word, degenerate? I'm surprised nobody notices it. It's the same fucking boring word used over and over and you think it does anything? It literally means "something most people don't do". Okay, and?
You're fucking cringey as shit acting like that.
>>341955749
Where the fuck do I get this?
>>341967502
uh which one man?
if its the figma youre talking about it went for 5500. BUT the store fucked up on early pre orders and I got it for 3250 and they stood with it
>>341959062

Poisoning your lungs and giving yourself actual Cancer because of a shitty and expensive addiction is by definition degenerate.
>>341967652
Amazon came out great. That's badass that you spent about $32 for Saber. How tall is it?
I have one of these but it's back home with some other collectible I picked up back in the day.
I should've bought 2 so I could've DC'd one. It doesn't reveal your power level so extra points for that.
