I knew it years ago, but on the level "343 Guilty Spark" in Halo 1, you can see Flood combat forms skirting around at the edge of the fog before their cutscene reveal. As far as I know, they can appear on the ledges above the playable area, the log bridge and the ledge that the bridge leads to. They're what causes your radar to show phantom blips of friendlies. Just thought I ought to share this for some of you who don't know.

Yeah, you have to do the Pelican glitch to get to him. The one good thing they did to that level in the Anniversary edition was put a tree right in his face, he looks really creepy that way.
