More requirements for NPC houses and removing exploits that allow barebone structures to cheeze mob and boss fights. Too many people want to get to the end and get the same items everyone else has instead if thinking about what they are building and making something unique, or at least personal.Because the fanatic community will shoot down any game that focuses more on Building-Exploration and less on Progression instead of vice versa, so the only way to get more Building-Exploration is if Terraria does

It's weird because the core gameplay doesn't change much at all on your way to the end. Even the Moon Lord doesn't require any items beyond maybe the Cloud in a Bottle, let alone Rocket Boots to fly or the Shield of Cthulhu to dash. At another angle, you're given so many tools and materials to build great looking places to store you gear and have people look at its form and function. It's weird how people only play for a piece of the game that it doesn't excel at more than any game that focuses on it because in Terraria, it's part of a whole package.

There's like 19+ NPCs you can unlock under certain conditions and house. A 7x9 box with wall, door, chair, table and torch is more than enough to make NPC housing.

I don't know if there was a screencap of the thread but basically some dude runs 10 clients of the game by himself on a private server and rps as thousands of characters. He kept track of each character in notebooks and would go back and forth between the characters over the course of weeks/months.
