How did this game managed to gain such a long lifespan? What did it honestly succeed where many others did not?
I dunno man, played it once in September, got the true ending, never played it again.
I think that's kinda the point of the game.

In the short-run? The right attention to character attitudes, the little designs, deceitful setting/expectations of surprises, muh feels depending on choice, good music and simple graphics leaving room for interpretation.
In the long-run? Fanmade content continuing it. Often a lot of porn/lewds as well.And that faint hope for a hard mode and dog-fight.
