I think the initial beauty of flinstoneposting was that it's a tune that's instantly recognizable by everybody and the early uploads just seemed to be trying to work it in humorous and unexpected ways, and it was entertaining even for people who didn't know the vinesauce meme behind it. The same CAN be said for snow halation, but I think most people found those rips to be more of an annoyance than a gag.
I'm okay with the occasional in-joke but when you have to keep asking what the hell you just listened to (and the special snowflakes in the comments repeat that you're just listening to high quality rips!) then yeah I can see why they might have been getting flack from viewers, IF that's even the reason why they rebooted
