Very simple, anon. The model is kinda shitty and low poly, as is kinda the entire game. The lighting they have in place is something you would typically do for a more realistic look, which casts shadows realistically and it shows you the contours and edges of the model, but because everything is so low fucking poly, all you're seeing is these really awkward shadows that the model is casting on itself and you see all the jagged edges and it looks SUPER FUCKING SHITTY.
When you remove the lighting, everything has flat shading because there is no light source to cast shadows which create color gradients. It's a bootleg cel shading look basically. Because there's no definition to the models, it makes it much harder to discern the actual shape of the model and makes it harder to define the poly count, which gives it more of a stylized artistic look.
Pretty much they fucked up, this game should have been cel shaded, it should have been made to feel like 2D artwork, but the way it's animated and the way it's lit is more realistic, which for how low budget everything looks just makes it look incredibly cheap and shitty. It was a bad idea but no one told them it was a bad idea until it was too late and so now the game is shipping that way.

It plays worse than Megaman fan games and is less interesting than most of them to boot. The big innovation this game has is the dash/combo mechanic and that's pretty much the only different thing the game is doing, but unfortunately it's a half baked mechanic that doesn't really make the game enjoyable. Killing enemies with it makes the game a joke, killing enemies without it is fucking tedious and annoying. The fact that they dropped the transformations sucks and none of the abilities seem to be all that different from typical Megaman powerups, in fact they seem to be a little too basic.
Like yeah sure the game is fine it plays well whatever, but even if the game looked amazing visually the gameplay is still like a 7/10 and the game looking as fucking ugly as it does makes it a 6/10. It is just all around an unappealing game. Of the people who will give the game a fair review, there will be two types of reviews that come out. The ones where people are just marks for nostalgia and fawn over how MEGAMAN IS BACK YEAHHHHHH SOMEONE ACTUALLY MADE A GAME but you know here are some faults I guess 90'S KIDS YEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH. The other review will be people who play the game and are met with the mediocrity of it all and come away thinking that Megaman was never good and maybe this game should have stayed dead. It's unfortunate because it's not that the Megaman formula is bad, it's that THIS GAME doesn't do anything interesting or creative and is just overall a really underwhelming experience.
