is anyone else worried that the SJWs and soccer moms are going to end up getting violent VR games banned somehow or atleast pressure companies to NOT allow VR support for violence?

people keep on saying shit like "its so disturbing" or "i'm not comfortable with this" and it makes me worried that games like GTA 6 will end up somehow limiting VR so that people do not get offended or threatened.

what do you think?
>>
>>341929697
VR is garbage and shouldn't exist yet anyway. Holodecks are the only viable VR and we won't live to see that.
>>
>>341929697
No.
I'm more worried about SJWs and soccer moms sexual violent VR games banned above anything else.
>>
>>341929697
I think none of it will actually affect me
>>
>>341929961
yeah i know that theres a bunch of really fucked up japanese sex games that i'm sure will be banned from the US?
>>
>>341929697
>GTA 6
>Vr
Can you imagine ? You wont need real life anymore, just be a kingpin in the game
>>
>>341929697
Jack Thompson sure didn't accomplish anything.
>>
I'm more worried about the porn games.
>>
>>341929697
People don't have to be comfortable with every form of entertainment.
SJWs are dishonest hypocrites and are usually not taken seriously by anyone, while soccer moms are just ignorant of the subject which means their opinion is worthless.
As long as there is a tranny fucking simulator and a simulation of Fabio in various romance novel poses both groups should be satisfied.
>>
>>341930347
i think you underestimate PC culture nowadays.
>>
>>341930347
not true. He ruined his career ;)
>>
>>341930495
what exactly has "PC culture" accomplished aside from becoming a boogeyman
>>
>>341929697
No.

Stop being a fucking pussy and enjoy your life. And stop worrying about irrelevant shit.
>>
>>341929697
I wasn't really worried about this before since I thought we were past the point of having moral panics about violent games and had moved on to bitching about misogyny but no, people are even being cunts about violence now, not just "violence towards women" but any violence.
Violence is so integral to the so many genres, many of them among the most popular that there's no way they'll get violent VR games banned but maybe they'll have some influence over how violence is depicted in them, or games in general.
It's weird, these people always talk about games as art but want to shy away from depicting the grim reality of violence, and many other topics, in games. Makes no fucking sense.
>>
>>341929697
The fact that you think soccer moms and retards bitching about violent games is anything new makes me think you're not old enough to be here.
>>
>>341930758
i could definitely see this. to answer
>>341930618
there could be a sort of trend similar to how most developers are kowtowing to the PC crowd and are now including homosexual/transgender stuff in the games. similarly we could see a trend where game developers start resorting to cartoonish comedic violence instead of graphic violence just to appease (or to avoid riling) the PC crowd.

overall it represents a very unhealthy tred that I hope never evolves but I have a nagging feeling that this is exactly where we are headed.

also, look for POV porn from the womans perspective to become a very mainstream thing
>>
you cant ban digital games on PC.
>>
>>341930998
is it really such a strech to think that obscenity laws will not possibly be expanded to include violent video games with realistic depictions of gunshot wounds?
>>
>>341930347
im too young!
who jag tompsin?
>>
>>341929697
Probably, but then again. This era sucks ass anyway, so why does it matter?

Everytime moms say "I don't want my kid to be playing these kinds of games."
Why don't they just not buy them the fucking game?
>>
>>341930103
>>341929961
I mean, Play Club is already a rape simulator that works in VR. I guess it just isn't well known enough yet. It was like half a decade after Rapelay came out that it became a controversy.
>>
>>341932247
you were a kid once weren't you? you made friends with the kid who had the cool parents and bought him GTAIII. it's the same concept nowadays.

I was actually a JRPGfag and played mostly Smash Bros, GoldenEye, or Perfect Dark on the N64 with friends.
I never liked the GTA series and even now I still don't.

It doesn't really matter if the parents buy the game or not they can go to a friends house to play the game or hell even more easily just watch the game on youtube from their favorite e celeb
their really is no winning unless they block youtube, and hand pick their kids friends, their parents which will make the kid hate their parents a shit ton
>>
>>341929697
VR is nothing but 1st person mode worn on the face. This is ridiculous.
>>
>>341931014
>there could be a sort of trend similar to how most developers are kowtowing to the PC crowd and are now including homosexual/transgender stuff in the games.
I like how not only are you unsure of whether the trend exists or not, but you also fail to explain why any of that is bad. It's not like gay and transsexual characters didn't exist ten years ago either.

>similarly we could see a trend where game developers start resorting to cartoonish comedic violence instead of graphic violence just to appease (or to avoid riling) the PC crowd.
Can you actually point to any games that do that for that sole purpose?

>overall it represents a very unhealthy tred that I hope never evolves
I'm sure being vague about what's wrong with it will stop it from growing

>also, look for POV porn from the womans perspective to become a very mainstream thing

the game manhunt 2 was censored because the executions were "too violent"

they have shoehorned transgenderism into the sims 4 for no reason whatsoever, as well as all the weird ass gay relationships in mass effect.
>>
>>341933105
Wow dude you're totally a unique snowflake and also proved that anon's point anyway since Goldeneye and Perfect Dark are N64 games some parents didn't like
>>
>>341929697
no
1. "its so disturbing" or "I'm not comfortable with this" != "we want it banned"
2. Violence sells, I'm sure any real attempt to ban violent VR games will be met with fierce opposition from both the industry and the gaming public at large
3. Any moral public will die down as people become desensitized to the new tech
>>
>>341934391
>moral public
moral panic*
>>
>>341934098
>the game manhunt 2 was censored because the executions were "too violent"
Rockstar censored the games because rating boards refused to classify it and it eventually got an AO rating, preventing it from getting put on shelves in stores

>they have shoehorned transgenderism into the sims 4 for no reason whatsoever
By letting you make a transgender character? You don't have to make one, you know.
>>
>>341934540
>it eventually got an AO rating
which is what any game with realistic VR violence will get

limiting the sales from being in stores? no developer in it to make money (aka all of them) will chance an AO rating, thus they will lower the violence in their games as a kowtow to PC culture.

are you seriously not seeing my point or are you just intentionally being irrational?
>>
>>341934704
Question: when did PC culture start?
>>
>>341934908
no clue. but its here now theres no denying that so that question is irrelevant.

heres a question: do you honestly not see how PC culture can and will influence the development games to where the creation and development of games is dictated more by "not offending people" rather than what the market is actually interested in buying? do you see why this is a bad thing?

not the same anon but i think it was around 2006-2008 when the internet, video gaming, and being a nerd is cool thing went really mainstream

>do you honestly not see how PC culture can and will influence the development games to where the creation and development of games is dictated more by "not offending people" rather than what the market is actually interested in buying?
With Manhunt's case, no. It still came out and it's still extremely violent.

>do you see why this is a bad thing?
I don't, because there's more than one market to appeal to.
>>
If they didn't have video games to cry about these people would have nothing in life, so sad.
>>
>>341929697

I believe the Take-Two CEO said he doesn't like VR or something. GTA 6 probably won't have it.

The solution is to just disconnect from them and stop giving them attention.

Video games are already protected speech thanks to based Scalia.

The industry and players just need to move away from these censors. In the 90s people were whining too. It was easier because they didn't have quite the 24/7 platform as the Internet and they hadn't burrowed their way into the industry, but the solution remains the same.

Just speak with your dollars and encourage people to move away from creepy social engineering sites like Polygon and Kotaku. Also donate to non-political review sites.
>>
>>341935698
and markets other than that are very small. casual games already exist, sjws don't play R* etc games anyway.
>>
>>341929697
Whenever a new media pops up there will be outrage by conservatives be it Christians or Feminists. It happened with, Jazz, Comics, DnD, Heavy Metal, Rock, Gothic Architecture, Porn and Video Games. This is nothing new and they have never been 'that' effective.
