Their DLC boss fights were a huge improvement over all of their past games. Fighting Miraak at level 26 with mods and Master difficulty was fucking intense and a lot of fun.

Or rather, Skyrim is the objectively worse game. It's ONLY a repetitive, linear dungeon crawl. Skyrim had the benefit of not using algorithm combat, but Bethesda gutted the combat and magic systems nonetheless (very bad idea for a pure action-adventure game). The guilds were shit, the story was shit, the common town quests were shit, and the daedric quests were slightly better but not compared to the other games. Linear dungeons AND spongey leveled enemies AND m1 repetitive combat are a godawful combination, anon.

Playing mage in vanilla Skyrim is fucking torture.
Your spells don't scale for anything, you have to stack the fuck out of magic regen and magic cost reduction to cast regularly, magic regen is fucking halved in combat because reasons, you ABSOLUTELY MUST take the perk that stunlocks things permanently on dualcasts then sit there spamming weak ass spells on an enemy that cannot fight back.
Oh and the fucking bullshit with the execution animations where they occur when the enemy starts their attack animation, not when they actually land a hit. If you are playing a squishy then its common as fuck for the level 100 bandit god at the end of the ruins to instant kill you with the execution animations if they manage to start an attack near you.
Completely fucking unplayable without modding.

I liked the endgame spell that gave you 80% damage reduction for x seconds. The only way to tell when the spell ran out was if the next attack got you killed. Also the spell took like 5 seconds to cast. Yeah that was tedious as hell.
