Is Uncharted a platformer?

how do you mess up at this game?

Disgusting.

this.

Any they could not have at least put some gloves on him. I find it hard to believe his hands are anything other than bloody stumps.
>>
>>341899654
sort of. not a very good one though, like crash bandicoot.

>>341899918
don't jump at the right time or get shot to death?
>>
>>341899654
More like an interactive movie.

So this is the power of the PS4, huh?
You guys surely love scripted games.

That part is actually pretty hard

some of the inclines slide off to the sides pretty hard, so you also have to steer away to not fall off

it's a 3D cinematic platformer

You could actually survive that, it's just the speed at which he's falling seems a little too hectic.
>>
>>341901605
It's hard because the controls turn to shit
>>
>being able to change direction while sliding on something

is like being able to change direction in the air after jumping

You can also scope up and shoot your gun or throw grenades while steering around as you slide.

Uncharted is videogamey as fuck, I don't know why people think it pretends to be anything more than a game. I could see that maybe for TLOU, but not Uncharted

Rich explained this more because people attacked him for it.

He doesn't think the problem is that it's linear, because he loves a lot of good linear games. The problem is that it's so fucking boringggggggg while being linear, and the people defending it as an immersive experience are retarded. Bad gameplay and scripted events aren't immersive.
>>
>that one guy that still defends U4

Wait we're watching Rich Evans +1 for video games now?

I mean, I don't disagree. I actually
died in nu-Tomb Raider several times because I was so bored I couldn't react to actual quicktime events anymore. Then it spawned me 5 seconds earlier and let me redo it anyway.

But still. RLM are the guys you watch for this now?
>>
>>341903136
>I guess you've never gone skiing?
You generally wear skis while you're skiing, which is not the case in cinematic garbo-gameplay land.

He just slides around on rock and sediment like it's made from clouds and pillows. Nathan's ass and hands would've been ground to red paste in about three seconds.
>>
>>341909351
Don't bother. He's going to defend this game no matter what.
>>
>>341899654

>The problem is that it's so fucking boringggggggg while being linear

it's not even boring though. It's an interactive, controllable spectacle. And whoever even called it immersive in the first place? You are climbing around like a monkey half the game
>>
>>341909715
That video summed up my feelings about Uncharted and games like it pretty well.

Great presentation, beautifully animated, good attention to detail in the visuals, but absolutely boring gameplay. Fake tension everywhere and it doesn't feel immersive at all.
>>
>>341909715
I just happened to see it by chance. It perfectly reflected my own experience with these kinda games, so it stayed with me.
>>
>>341909924
>It's an interactive, controllable spectacle
You don't call it "game" anymore? At least we agree on that.

>that webm
Looks boring as fuck. Plus:
>magical car that floats on the water
>>
>>341899654
Those deadstop animations are simply awful. They seem to be everywhere in this game.
>>
>>341909715
Rich Evans has GOAT opinions, and actually explains and backs up his feelings unlike every other blogger/reviewer/"""journalist""""
>>
>>341909715
He is simply, right about this "game".
>>
>>341909924
But that actually does look really fucking boring in the context of a game. That sequence looks like it requires almost zero player input and therefore, it's completely without tension.

>>341908638
Didn't websites catch hate for rating Uncharted 3 not 10/10 before it was even out? Like people were complaining about high scores not being high enough for a game that wasn't released?
Uncharted fans are nuts.

the tension during the firefights is real though (if you are at least playing on hard).
the tension during the climbing parts is like the "fake" tension while watching a movie, in that things always happens in the same way

>>341910280
I'm referring specifically to the climbing parts that people like Rich Evans complain is so boring. The combat is a whole different animal.

>not a game
then how does the MP even exist?

>>341911124
you control the car the entire time you are in the drivers seat, but the current keeps pushing you downstream. You have to press x to try and jump up the cliff, then you have to press L1 to swing on the branch

>>341911138
>holding up on the analog stick and watching the game play itself
Nate doesn't move unless you tell him to. In most games the player moves when you push on the stick. Do you want QWOP controls or something?
>>
>>341910280

>magical car that floats on the water

Go watch videos of cars being swept away in flood waters. I mean shit I just watched a Jeep float down a swollen river until it hit a bridge.
>>
>>341899654
It's a next gen Crash shooter.

Very first Uncharted had segments that reminded me of Crash.

For real though how fucking stupid do you have to be to do what he does in that .webm? Watch the beginning, look how he jumps.
>>
>>341912350

Is anyone else sick of the jump-dash-roll-dodge in games yet?
>>
>>341912827
It's like they seriously didn't even try it, cuz seeing any of the deaths are brutal, unless the ESRB are top elite gamers who 100% the game and didn't die and said the game is for babies so they slapped on an E rating.
>>
>>341912350
>you control the car the entire time you are in the drivers seat, but the current keeps pushing you downstream. You have to press x to try and jump up the cliff, then you have to press L1 to swing on the branch

No, the game does it for you. Its fully scripted. It pushed you where you need to be. Not where you want.

>>
>WHOOOOOOOAAAAAAA
This is like half the script in the games.

Why do people acclaim this series as a masterpiece again?
>>
When it's harder to fail a jump than it is to succeed at it, then no. I wouldn't call it a platformer.
>>
>>341913535
A lot of things made sense after the Polygon video of DOOM came out.

These people literally don't play games. They're just glorified bloggers. A game that plays itself and has a shitty Hollywood reject script blows them away.
>>
>>341899654
How the fuck could anyone look at this and be like: "Yeah this is totally how that would happen"?

>>
>>341914067
You can actually take measures to avoid being shot in Uncharted though (such as the dodging anon is complaining about). In Just Cause you are purely a bullet sponge and the only means of evasion is getting out of range or out of sight

do you want the gameplay to be like this?:

Hi, friend.

It appears to be gameplay footage from Uncharted 4 on the Playstation 4. Specifically, footage of a flashback from the perspective of Nathan's brother.

I have yet to purchase this game or play it for that matter, but my hunch is probably correct.

Hope that helps.

if you dont press anything to get out of the car you die. Happens both at the cliff and at the waterfall. Also if you dont build up some momentum and jump off the tree quick enough after you rope onto it, you die as well
