It gets WAY better in terms of boss battles. The combat also gets less tedious once you've leveled up a bit as fights take a bit too long even on normal early on. It balances itself out later on though. Kaine fight is one of the least interesting fights in the game. Though it won't be until the second half of the game that the story starts to pick up. If it means anything, the gameplay gets kind of varied at times, switching camera perspective to top down and/or using a visual novel part as a boss battle.

Seeing a lot of hype for Nier 2. I'm gonna check out the new E3 shit. Actually, I see Nier is one of those games where /v/ loves to death but critics didn't care for it.
I tried out Nier but I got bored (I'm >>341893063 ) I think I'll give it another shot. Feels like I'm missing out on something good. Same with the Metal Gear Solid series. I see people circlejerk the ever loving fuck out of MGS but I tried 3 different times to get into the series and it did nothing for me. Again, feels like I'm missing out on something good
