Sure, less villains with more character development and devoted time for each would be great. But I think PS1 Spidey struck a good balance and it worked because the big baddie was the symbiotes and not any individual villain. The symbiotes ended up fucking over several villains, like Ock, giving us Monster Ock and other things. The game definitely had too many characters but I felt like it still worked with the story it told.

Sure, you're going to tell me that it's a fictional video game about a superhero with the powers of a spider, but there always has to be some realism in fantasy or it falls apart. Imagine if, in Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones, the actors were able to leap a thousand feet into the air, do spins, wield twin claymores in their hands, or two spears, or shit even three spears. For instance in the ps2 games, you'd have to save people on boats. You obviously couldn't swing over the fucking ocean so you had to carefully slingshot your way from boat to boat to save them.
Likewise, if you were in parts of manhattan with spread apart buildings or short buildings and you had to keep up with someone, it made it a lot more exciting since you couldn't just spam the web button to reach them.

No. He isn't. There is a reason why, despite SM2 being spammed to hell and back by casuals, why Spider-Man 2000 is still beloved today. Because it had everything SM2 didn't. It's also why games like Shattered Dimensions and Web of Shadows is popular, because they deliver everything a Spider-Man fan wants from these games.
SM2 got the swinging down perfect and the goal should always be to re-create that, but it's not the end all for Spider vidya, and it's far less important than you think to fans.

I want combat that seems simple but is deep, with combinations, new moves you can unlock, that sort of thing. I also don't want combat that's just spamming jump and web shooters to bounce off your enemies. I've been doing that since Spider-Man 2 and it's old. I want creative ground combat, taking advantage of his reflexes, and the environment. Someone throws a punch at you so you quickly dodge, maybe even web-pull another baddie into the first guy's punch.
I want the environment to play a role. I want to be able to web-grab a stop sign, rip it out of the ground and throw it at some bad guy. I want to be able to web-tie a bad guy to a moving car, or even a police car going to the station for the laffs.
I want to punch and kick but I also want the leaping and the reflex combat. Spider-Man games seem to only give you the standard retarded jumping combat, and BamHam combat is all punches and kicks. Both options are bad for Spidey, he needs a pleasant blend.
Creative web combat. Web balls. Web bullets. Webbing your hands up to do more damage with your fists, or to punch through harder walls or enemies with armor. Webbing a gun from an enemy's hand. Webbing one enemy's head and yanking him into another enemy, knocking them both out.

My generation had Cartoon Network available only in the major cities, the rest of the cities only got Fox Kids, which only played Marvel shows like Hulk, Iron Man and, the most popular ones, Spider-Man and X-Men.
The only popular DC character around here was Batman, even though I don't remember any channels airing any of his cartoons.
