The whole game gives off that capeshit vibe and it works really well I feel when your teams start working as one.

You realize that "hit boxes" are really not hard, and that a game made in 2007, like TF2, was fully capable of having mesh colliders?
Making hit boxes extend beyond the body is an active choice in both of these games and it's done for mechanical / gameplay reasons. Likely in an attempt to balance the fact that all the different classes have varying model shapes and sizes and that shit's hard to balance.

I suck at overwatch and get my shit consistently pushed in by enemy teams.
I don't know where people get off saying that skill isn't a factor; I'm so bad at aiming I've taken to maining Symmetra for turret spam and teleporters so I'm at least somewhat useful.
I just can't seem to track targets, despite playing online FPS for years and sniping in particular seems literally impossible.
I especially wanted to play DVa because hit and run flanking with a giant mech seemed fun but I lose the mech in seconds and seem to do no damage in or without it.

A good player as any other character will be better. Waifufag
overwatch is the product of a philosophy that believes in trophies for participating. The damage is lop-sided, sometimes being extremely high to help weaker players still make an impact, and sometimes very small, so that a 2v1 engagement assures victory for the larger group. There is auto-aim ingrained in the system that cannot be turned off, so Overtwatch attempts to level the playing-field on it's own terms so that the majority of players can enjoy themselves. Any faults even with the system and damage balancing should be taken with a grain of salt. It would not be unbelievable if Blizzard wanted the game to be balanced this way for the premiere of the game. Kids are out of school, summer break, this kind of over-the-top FPS gameplay probably helps sell the game and keep people engaged.
That said, I think the game will improve over time. New characters/modes/levels are definitely going to be released, so there will likely be new competitive balancing as well for the long term. As it is, I personally think defensive heroes are too strong and support heroes are too weak. There's supposed to be a trade-off in having a medic on your team, but the sacrifice in DPS might not even be worth it especially considering that most supports have low endurance and die easily anyway. It's a problem because in public matches, no one /wants/ to play support/healer classes, they feel they /have/ to for the sake of the W.
Finally, minor complaint, but the flow of the game is lacking. Each match takes 5 minutes at least, 15 perhaps at most and you spend at least this much time finding a game, forming a team, watching the POTG, etc etc. and that hurts the fun for me.

It's a good game.
There's some very strange design decisions and choices though, but overall it fit perfectly for playing a bunch of quick games.
The game is severly lacking of content though.
Not enough maps, not enough modes, and the few mode there is are pretty bad, only payload is good, and you cannot filter the game modes you play.
It's very basic but it gets the job done.
