There's nothing in the gaming industry that has sidequests this good and non-obvious consequences to your choices, has an open world that is actually fun to explore and nothing amongst the things to do feel like a chore.
The game could be better, of course, they cut some content and combat could have been more responsive and refined, no denying that, but this game deserved every last praise it got and shitposters know it very well.

It was an experiment to see if a TPS game could work in a KOTOR\Jade Empire like contest. Turned out good in most of the aspects, but gameplay was a little clunky

They decided to go with a more edgy\cyberpunk inspired feel to the game, added more companions and lots of sidequests, dumbed down exploration but kept it fun and refined combat. Overall it was good, a direction that would distinguish the series with chapter 3

Best goddamn TPS out there, tons of weapons and strategies, good challenges and difficulty for both online and offline play, powers are interesting and fun and multiplayer is probably amongst the best co-op experiences in a horde game to date. They removed exploration, made the sidequests worse (meaning that there's only one outcome if you complete them properly, or else you fail them) but introduced a nice system to determine how your final battle would look like. Sadly they wasted a lot of potential, but it's still a very good TPS and a fun game overall.
