The original Nep play is trash. Having to rely on RNG to heal causes a ton of hassle until you grind up enough levels. Lack of fast travel means having to deal with trash mobs of the slow battle transitions once you're overleveled. The combo system is completely busted.

The problem with the Rebirth games is that they're just copy pasted shit gameplay wise. As for characters and story, there is simply too much useless character thrown at you. In Victory for example, lot of scenes had more impact because it was just the main cast.
Also the Rebirth games brought the cancerous steam audience to the fanbase, the series got memed to death.

The problem with the Noir game is that they overdid it with the self-insert wish fulfillement male protag. The guy act like a dork and is showered in praise for the slightest service like recognizing some guys in the streets, it's horribly cringy.
VII nailed it better with a cast really loveable and eccentric. Characters like Lumio and Steamax added a lot of fun.
