The story was extremely linear and was a literally written like a bad fan fiction. They optioned putting out the second half of the story for the "good squad" as DLC instead of just including it to make up for their otherwise short and lackluster storytelling. The final was extremely displeasing too, and narrowed down to a yes or no prompt to determine who you fought as final boss(es).
That being said though the opening sequence was spectacular, the graphics were good, and the AI and their mechanics were great. The MP is tons of fun between the outbreak expanding as the rounds got longer, sensible mission objectives, and they nailed the map right particularly with the "downtown" racoon city map.

Shooting in RE5 feels like that carnival game where you have to spray water into the clowns mouth (by comparison, RE4 felt like that game where you shoot balls at a clown's massive teeth-- CLANG THUD). Miraculously, RE5 feels more like a chore to play than the first three Resident Evil games. I know. It's insane.
But hey at least the game has co-op. Sometimes you get assisted by some fan service clad Shiva with unlimited ammo to help you beat the awful game a pinch faster, a big improvement.

If its below $15 then yeah, I'd recommend it. The low price mainly because that story was faulty. But especially worth the buy if you're an avid MP fan and pay mind to detail as an RE fan. I wanna emphasis the AI here a second time because they captured their behaviors really well. The community at this point pretty much contains people who genuinely like the game too.
HUNK is present in the opening sequence of the story and is playable I believe in the hero mode.
