Every perk except medic are competing for one role: damage dealer. That's why some classes were practically unplayable on HoE since they could not compete with the splash damage of the support or the single target damage of the marksman.
You need to actually change the core mechanics to make this game good, instead they add even more perks and toy around with stupid shit like resistances.
bad balance, also give the ai the abilitys from the vs mode, and make waves more dynamic, and make it so wepons aren't all just "tiers" that all need to be balanced and yet are functionally the same when it comes to the meta.

I would say so, but in KF2 the Support has little utility since welding is useless. The supplier skill changes a lot, however.
From a KF1 perspective, I would say that the support excels in taking command of chokepoints i.e. tunnels and single-file doors, and this should be better reflected in KF2.
As for firebug, I would say that Firebug should be similar to the Support in that it acts as a force multiplier for chokepoints, but in KF1 it had a high potential for accidentally igniting large zeds and upsetting dedicated Sharpies. Damage-over-time was also nice. He synergised very well with Commando, I think.
I admit I can't really get my head around Firebug for KF2 as I knew him to be the big zed-killer with his microwave gun, but now we have Sharpshooter for that, so I'm not sure what could be done with him. DoT is a nice bonus for the team but doesn't act fast enough to be mega-useful on its own, so maybe he should be brought in line with his old variant.
