ITT: "Fuck you, I liked it" games

nobody said it was bad
ignoring the impossible 'extra chapters' of course
DMC:DMC
just sucked in comparison.
Paper Mario Sticker Star.
It makes for a shit RPG but it's actually decent as a puzzle collectathon with RPG elements.
I actually got my enjoyment from filling the museum out and finding shit.
>>341845362
I remember this, it was fun.
Some of the minigames were ass though.
>>341845362
I never even got past the boat.
Shadow The Hedgehog
>>341847272
the drawing one with lasers got pretty brutal later on
Super Paper Mario. It was fun fuck you all

god damn my niggas
>>341848069
Based opinion here, TTYD autists be damned.
>that one boss where you have to cheat to win
>>341848304
This game was pretty solid
>>341848304
That was actually a good game and I feel it shouldn't be here. I want a sequel dammit
This is so better than everything we got after SF64 it's not even funny. And yet it gets hated to death.
Hellraiser III. It's not as good as the original or sequel, but I feel it's a decent effort. If you want more Pinhead, it's there at least.
>>341848418
I remember buying this and never playing it, I lost most of my games in a flood few years back so i guess I'll never know how it was.
>>341848719
mandatory motion controls. it was extremely stupid of Nintendo to not make it optional. some people just dont like it them and they should be given a choice
>>341848069
Dimentio a best
SWhen it came out i had no internet and such, so the hype went unnoticed. I just saw it in the store one day, thought it looked neat and it blew my mind.
I even liked the space exploration portion of the game.
>>341848719
Assault was better than Zero aside from the horrible on-foot parts.
>>341848719
forced motion controls and gamepad use. im not a fucking chameleon. i cant look at my gamepad and tv at the same and flip back and forth between the to is eye straining
>>341848983
Assault was good but it had very bad on foot sections and the game was clearly focused on multiplayer rather than on the single player.
And it also had Krystal, which is bad.
Zero might be on par with Assault but it is WAY better than both Adventures and Command.
>>341845362
Finished it at least 5 times. Probably the best DS game of all. Didn't even know people hated it.
This right here. One key detail I remember is that Gohan kept wearing his saiyan armor all the way until the end of the game.
Oh and despite the GBA having a shit-tier soundcard, the music in this game was fantastic. If you're a fan of Faulconer's soundtrack for DBZ, give the LoGII soundtrack a listen. It's rad.
Genesis was pretty cool too IMO
>>341848069
The good thing about Sticker Star/Color Splash is that it makes SPM look better in retrospect.
>>341849231
I think everyone loved this game, doubly so for Buu's Fury. If you said Legacy of Goku 1, though.
>>341845362
the ultimate bullshit story on /v/
"I hate the most popular game in years" - everyone
but everyone also played it.
Fuck you /v/. Literally the best 10€ invested in years.
>>341849738
Not everyone played it for hundreds of hours, in fact most of the time when someone describes their Skyrim experience on /v/ it's usually: 90% installing mods and 10% fapping to said mods
>>341847956
I finished it twice to get "this is who I am" and to kill the president.
Wasn't fun.
>>341845362
>>341849561
>The Modern Adventure game: evolution of the classic adventure game that blew up stuck in the past shit shows like Broken Age and the new Kings Quest.
>Puzzles that showed the developers actually expected the player to think. Subtle Environment cues, 64 different thing stickers compared to solving the same puzzles with ~7 partner/pixls across the whole game.
>Solved the series backtracking problem with the world map.
>Open world/exploration based Paper Mario game. Only 5 worlds in the game but still more areas than any other Paper Mario, complex level design where discovery and investigation of the scenery is required to progress.
There isn't a single bad Paper Mario game and Color Splash looks to be even better than Sticker Star.
>>341845362
>"Fuck you, I liked it"
Sounds just like Miyamoto when people complain about retarded shit in Nintendo games.
>>341845362

Never understood the hate. I guess some people just can't gitgud.
>>341850102
I don't wanna argue with you because of the type of thread this is. But damn...
>>341850236
Really? I like it too.
>>341849649
What was that actually like? I remember like allmost buying it dozens of times, alays still picked something else though.
Also, this is one of my most memorable games of the last years
>>341850298
Even my little sister who doesn't bother much with vidya manage to complete it. It's like 15 minutes long.
Galerians Ash is simultaneously the best and the worst PS2 I played in my life.

Second best Metal Gear.
>>341849234
Great game
Honestly might be my favorite in the series.
>>341850314
Kind of an RPG/Tabletop hybrid. Check out some Youtube videos. If nothing else, the game looked and sounded amazing.
>>341846786
The combat was really fluid and fun. Tbh the combat in dmc 4 feels sluggish and stiff in comparison.

>Figured it was trash for a while but realized I spent a fuckton of time in Terraria grinding for rare loot and materials
I know most of /v/ hates this game with the force of a thousand suns but honestly I like casually exploring and building in Starbound even though it's severely lacking in content
>>341850102
>Puzzles that showed the developers actually expected the player to think. Subtle Environment cues
>complex level design where discovery and investigation of the scenery is required to progress.
oh I am laffin
also funny you didn't even mention the most broken thing about the game, the combat
>>341851186
aaaw shit nigga, was pretty cool. Man I got tsuck in one mission where there's like 3 or 4 huge fprtress ships, and after that you still have to fight an elite squad. Stopped playing
>>341850102
I still haven't beaten SS because it's actually pretty tough. Nevermind getting lost in the fucking forest and being stuck on the yoshi sphinx for days, the bosses absolutely kick my ass.
>mfw the crown sticker bitch patronizes me for not cheesing the megagoomba with the real world items
>>341851191
4 feels stiff compared to 3 but I wouldn't say in a bad way. 3 feels a lot looser and a little less refined, but it's faster and more vicious too. That's why so many people like it, and for good reason.
>>341850236
I couldn't agree more. My friend would always complain about the walls and such killing you instantly, rage quitting soon thereafter. Another friend who's absolutely ass at games would rather just play Tails Adventure for the umpteenth time, a game that requires little skill and possess almost no replay value.
>>341848719
I actually quite enjoyed the game and controls. There needed to be more high speed flying sections though. That's where the second perspective shined best.
>>341845362
I loved it. But I hated to repeat the minigames every five minutes.
>>341849649
Unlimited Saga for sure. Just showed how incompetent everyone is at the game.
>>341848069
Hell fuckin' yeah!
Watching enemies explode into a balloon of blood.
Tons of moves per character.
Actual boss fights in a musou title.
Pretty good dub.
Shame it never got a sequel.
Man, there's just something to be said about really simple SRPGs. I don't want to be invested in a huge story all the time. Sometimes I just want to take random, bite-sized jobs and complete them at my own leisure while slowly watching my stat points rise up. This game may not surpass stuff like Fire Emblem or Shining Force, but it's a got a niche for me and it's a hell of a lot better than the press would have you believe.
>>341847812
This and My Sims Kingdom were the best. I dunno what's up with My Sims franchise lately.
>>341855192
It did though. Added a bunch more characters and story mode covered both main arcs.
>>341855192
I own this but dropped it because of how slow and clunky it felt. Why should I pick it up again?
I will never get the praise 2 gets over this one.
>>341855749
Wut? I've always heard that this one is way better than Sonic Advance 2, which is true tho.
>>341851327
Sure but the thread is about games you like most hate, not games most like.
>>341855902
I can't really judge this game. I really don't get it.
I downloaded it onmobileand it made me choose different "games".
Is this like Gmod or something?
>>341850314
People are generally pretty positive about resonance after they tried it though. My problem was as much fun as I had there came a time about 2/3 of the way through where I was just done with it and was ready for it to be over. Which is regrettable with all the optional content.
The co-op is pretty fun
>>341855749
SA2 is pretty damn shitty imo. 3 real problem are the fuck awful physics.
It was a shitty RE game (and worse than 4) but I still liked it.
I clocked more than 200 hours in Spongebob squarepants Battle for Bikini Bottom, I really enjoyed the level design
If you didn't have massive amounts of fun in this game, you're lying.
>>341848069
It was never bad.
Super Paper Mario was a really good and fun game, but people call it bad for not being an RPG.
>>341851272
Oh God, that optimization. My PC was well below the minimum required specs, and I could run it at 1080p with at least 45fps.
Gook magic.
>>341857129
>It's a good game but not a good *Series* game
I hate when people write or say this shit.
The character interactions were pretty enjoyable when everyone wasn't being retarded for plot convenience. The great OST also helped.
>>341849231
yeah fucking agreed. Shame you can't use goku anymore after he gets rekt by Cell. I still loved this game to hell and back, had so many neat things too.
>mfw getting to 99 chocolate cookies before getting accused of being on the verge of puking on her goddamn carpet
>>341847812
I actually liked pic related. It was a good substitute for Animal Crossing and had some pretty decent gameplay. Plus I enjoyed being able to control where my Sim walked. The ending was ass though.
>>341856229
It's a collection of thousands of games built by its community. Kind of like Little Big Planet but with more freedom but a worse engine. There are some good games and a ton of absolute garbage.
>>341857642
>>mfw getting to 99 chocolate cookies before getting accused of being on the verge of puking on her goddamn carpet
I should check it out.
It really deserved to sell more, that way Nintendo could have made more new IPs
>>341856620
Same here, also Sheva isn't nearly as bad as everyone makes her out to be as far as getting in the way. It is better with two people though.
>>341856620
Ok-ish if playing coop, the LiN DLC was godlike though
>>341858161

>>341849234

>>341858273

Fuck me man I need to play that shit.
Fuck (you)
>>341858371
*hides*
>>341858161
>that way Nintendo could have made more new IPs
I need to say, this shit needs to stop. Nintendo always make more new IPs. The problem is people either ingore them or say they somewhat don't count. Fucking hell, they announced a new IP this very week. This gen we got stuff like Dillon, Sakura Samurai, Pushmo, BoxBoy, W101, Splatoon and even more I'm missing for sure. And yet people keep asking for more fucking new IPs. It's tragic.
>>341858475
I liked it too but the dub was fucking awful
>>341858419
Desperate Escape is meh, but Lost in Nightmares is fucking great
preferably play with someone who also enjoys RE, otherwise they'll hate it, I won't spoil anything, but it's tense as fuck and is the 'most different' content in the entire game
>>341858762
This was fun. People were just expecting another Resident Evil game.
>>341858475

>Pushmo
fuck, Crashmo is probably my favorite puzzle game everright after Picross, that is, but Picross is cheating
This one and Phantom Hourglass. I don't think they are the worst zelda games.
>>341861845
Of course they aren't with the CDi games around.
I legit think it's the Requiem for a dream/The Road of vidya.
>>341858762
This so fucking hard.
>>341862069
I don't think lisa fits the "fuck you, I liked it". I mean, everyone that played the game loves it.
>>341848069
I'm biased for it being by first Paper Mario, but even after playing the others it still has the best story and music in the series!
>>341849978
I filled mine with a bunch of bullshit random fucking anime and nonsense mods for laughs and stopped playing.
>>341859005
If me and my old buddy get to talking again that may be something we can do together. He likes Resident Evil but pretty much got into it because I did. You can do the online Co-Op with those can't you?
>>341856301
you have good taste or we both have shit taste
>that Riptide scene where you have to blast Who Do You Voodoo Bitch on the loudspeaker
good times
>>341862358
yup, you can online co-op even the DLCs, where do you plan on playing? the only version of the game that doesn't have split-screen co-op is the PC version, and a modder fixed that (basically Capcom fucking removed it from the game, and a modder easily re-enabled it, it was still in the game afaik)
Best TMNT game in recent years.
>>341862640
I have it for Playstation 3. We'll hopefully be able to play it local splitscreen.
>>341849034
Just pick one or the other, it's not that hard.
Look at the TV screen for flying segments.
Look at the pad for all range fights.
It's not that difficult.
>>341863138
the local splitscreen on PS3 @720 is pretty bad, but if that's the only thing you got... then actually I still recommend pirating it on PC instead, fuck the local splitscreen is bad
I guess it's better that it exists than not, though
>>341849231
I played the fuck out of this one and just recently got a copy of 3, how hype is that shit gonna be?
>>341863443
My friend and I actually played the whole thing through together on local co-op on the PC version.
It was some mod, you had to use 2 360 gamepads for it work, and I'm not sure if that mod works on the newer versions of the game, but it was mighty fun to play through with someone else.
>>341863648
its just as solid if not better.
I'm really just a sucker for extremely shitty fps games.
>>341850236
What was this game like? Why have we never gotten a sequel for that matter?
>>341850314
I wish more developers did characters interacting with each other like game did.
>tfw the villain won and your waifu is dead
>>341861845

>>341847812
>tfw 100%'d MySims Racing
I don't know why.
>>341857336
It's a valid point. Much like Nuts & Bolts, which he just posted, a game can be good, but since it's a part of a series that has had vastly different gameplay before it, fans expect more of the same and don't end up getting that.
>>341865734
>not getting the true ending
I pity you.
>>341845362
Super Paper Mario
I should say that i hadn't played any other Paper Mario game.
>>341857915
>tfw ended up with an item permastuck in my inventory

Other than collapsing under its own hype, I wouldn't say it did anything particularly wrong, it was just boring. The last few missions of Act 3 being an exception

This.
>>341846786

it's my weeeeeenus peenus! :) hahah
ITT: "Fuck you, I liked it" games - my answer, of course, my peanus weenus :D
hahaha!
Obviously the music and SFX were a last-minute hackjob because of copyright bullshit and the special moves are glorified QTEs, but otherwise it's a solid game, especially when you go through and destroy everything in what amounts to a New Game Plus.
Fuck EA for ruining the chance of a sequel, though. And you too, Penders, you human garbage.
>>341847105
>decent collectathon
sure
>puzzle and RPG
oh no, the combat actively punishes you for getting into combat and the puzzles are just
>find Thing Sticker
>use it in obvious place
if this is really what people consider 'good puzzles' then man I'm really off by liking puzzles that actually make me think for a second, no wonder there's people who enjoyed Skyward Sword
>>341867231

>>341867483

>>341867601
Wariolands 2 and 3 are like that.
>>341867645
It's trash from what I've heard, but the game is available on steam with the original soundtrack.
>>341867231
Sonic Chronicles was good. I liked doing special attacks with the stylus, and I like how the Chaos in the game were used.
Unfortunately, sequel never ever.
Also, is there a patch to fix the music?
>>341867828
If there is I've never heard of it. The whole problem with the music was that the original soundtrack was completely scrapped because of a copyright issue with a SEGA composer, so they were forced to cobble together awkward MIDI versions of classic Sonic music. I'm sure there's someone who could make a patch that inserts the actual songs the MIDIs are based on, though.

the boss battles are tough and fun if you don't cheese them, it's okay to use Thing stickers as long as the aren't the insta-win ones. Best part of the game by far.
Keep saving up stickers for the end though, there is a very clear point at the very end where the game essentially tells you
>Empty the clip. Exhaust the reserves. Hold nothing back. Every single item you've been saving for a rainy day - this is monsoon season.
>>341845362
>That one section where you had to run through a gauntlet on a very strict time limit
I could not beat that level. And I am not going back.
>>341855230
Holy shit, someone else actually played this piece of shit.
I couldn't stand how often it would freeze for me just by going through the menu at the base.
Dunno if Gravity Rush is particularly disliked around here, but I thought it was a good game. Could have done with the plot threads being tied up, it left way too much either unanswered or just answered in a hazy way
>>341861845
I didn't like the boat/train parts, but otherwise I thought they were really fun. I liked the "go back to a central dungeon" structure, it felt like a badass to just breeze through floors you'd struggled on before thanks to a new item.

Nier's success is through a lot of word of mouth.
Fuck, I picked it up for $20 because "well, it's 20 dollars and I'm bored" and it became my favorite game from that generation.
Also, some of the higher-ups at Square Enix really like Taro. That's why his games keep getting funded.

>I'LL EAT SHIT AS MUCH AS WANT TO YOU CAN'T STOP ME
there's a billion better games to be played out there than the worst 3D Zelda out there, or rather, the worst Zelda period
what little puzzles there are and aren't extremely trivial, are ruined by Fi, Fi won't stop talking useless shit all the time, every little segment of an area you have to do some menial task to advance that isn't challenging in any form, the new items suck besides the beetle, the music is beautiful, but forgettable as fuck, enemies that aren't electrified are easy as fuck to abuse the AI, motion+ for aiming/swimming/flying is horrible, sword controls could have been assigned to a second analog, imprisioned fight is not only bad, but you have to fight it 3 times, worst overworld in a Zelda yet, bosses are yet again, the new systems they implemented (medals/inventory and item upgrading/crafting) are completely wasted potential, only 1 good dungeon (sand ship), so yes, Skyward Sword is a bad game

I also like it cause its the only "Slice of life" RPG Ive ever played. Theres bigger stuff going on but most of the game is just their lives day by day, I think its really charming.
Also Ill never get bored of the Matrix combat, no matter how hard it is
It was 1 of my favorite 360 games.
It has a cult fanbase. (typically people who played kingdom under fire)
>>341870282
While most of the stuff you said is true, fuck you, I liked it.
>>341870282
>REEEEEEE
>>341872130
Nigger fuck you, I don't like it because of how much of a stepback this is compared to the last game in its own franchise, each character is literal anime cliche that gets their whole arc resolved as fast as possible with everyone trying to suck the dick of the MC for no real reason, every other Persona game handled its characters better than P4
>>341859079
You cant blame them. I love it but he did keep going on and on how this was going to be the next REmake
>>341872797
Loved it too, great beatemup
>>341870302
Best character designer right now IMO
>>341870282
Arent you missing the entire point of this thread retard?
>>341845362
MEIN
FUCKING
NEGER
I don't get the hate for this, it's almost exactly the same as Crash 2 and Warped but on more powerful hardware, and Warped is a beloved classic.
Design is great, difficulty ramps up nicely with the option to go really hard (plat relics, secret warp room etc), bosses are very characterized and unique from each other, the only difference is that it's Traveller's Tales instead of Naughty Dog.
>>341867231
>The Dark Brotherhood
Does Sonic become a serial killer in this game?
>>341868674
Sorry, I cant get over the fact I have an insta win at my disposal.
Its like that fucking invincible suit. Sure I COULD limit myself, but it feels pointless and robs me of any sense of achievement. Couldnt they have just had a fucking Easy mode for people who dont want to be challenged?
>>341873306
Yeah. It's alright anon.
Loved to play this game with my childhood friend when we were like 10 or smth
>>341871208
>>341871462
Why do people hate the circus case? Cause of the clown character? He wasnt that bad.
It literally had the best villain reveal and breakdown in the series.
>>341872993
Well, thanks to capcom making RE7 and that Umbrella game it might have just become a RE all on its own
>>341856301
Came here to post this. Picked up the re release on the xbox one the other day used to play it on the 360 with my little brother. Good times
>>341873306
It's not terrible, but the physics are weird and floaty and they try to hard to ram as many gimmicks into levels as possible.
>>341873306
I recently replayed it, it just feels like its lacking something. Its probably the abundance of gimmick levels. Swimming levels sucked in 3 and they suck here. Car levels were okay but annoying to relic, the copter was boring, the planes were boring, the monkey ball was fun once and never again. The exosuit felt unessary.
I mean damn. I havent even listed all the gimmicks either.
Nah, the underappreciated Crash game is Twinsanity.
>>341871147
SO fucking great. Probably the best game to come out of the cover-based shooter trend
Yes the game is bad, but its so bad its kind of fun
also i can go and say
"I Own Shaq-fu"
>>341873616
The physics take some getting used to I'll give you that, but I feel like the previous 3 Crash games wanted to be just as gimmicky but were limited by the PS1's hardware.
>>341873718
Swimming was practically PTSD-inducing, but then barely any games do underwater levels right. The design of putting sea mines that you literally can't see to drop on top of you didn't help.
I disagree with the rest though, the ball and mech levels are fantastic fun to do quickly, and the other vehicles were great the first few times around.
>>341873492
>muh brother I cri errytim
>literally killed someone over a fucking ACCIDENT
Not to mention
>the puppet guy
>defendant is completely unhelpful
>the entire convoluted murder
>>341858161
Agreed, if not just for the new IP. But also because it was a fairy original setting in today's gaming market that would have been fun to explore further
>>341849437
plenty of people liked that game, it was the psp's system seller
>>341874430
Personally I think several characters could've died in a fire for all I care. Even some that were great in battle. Otherwise definitely a solid game.
>>341862727
My nigga.
But I'll go even further. The Konami ones weren't bad, especially this one.
I also liked the console version of Mutant Nightmare.
I fucking LOVE Heavy Rain
>>341874868
JASON
>>341874086
Warped did try lots of gimmicks as well. The motorcycle levels could be kind of annoying in it, but that race level in Wrath of Cortex (Smokey and the Bandicoot, I think) is legitimately one of the worst things I have ever played.
>>341873306
Bosses are painfully boring shit except for the fire one and maybe the final one.But yeah it wasn't that bad.
>>341874868
Heavy Rain was hampered by what it was. Why advertise a game where you replay the story over and over for different outcomes in a whodunnit?
I'd only play it again to see if I could spot the clues earlier. But I liked the crime scene stuff and the investigation part of it.
>>341875208
Yeah, I'll agree with you there. It might've been interesting had the killer's role been randomly chosen at the beginning or if your choices led the game to decide that there was a different killer.
I love the story as is, but the replay value would be so much higher if they had worked more things out.
I still play it from time to time.
it was fun
>>341858161
I was actually really hyped for this game, bought in on release, and honestly, I don't regret it. It's really fuckin' hard, though.
Donkey Kong 64
manditory FF13, and part 2 and LR, literally fuck you if you won't play it cause 'linear', you haven't played past half the first game if you think that.
also mass effect in general, yea yea the ending is fucking terribad but that doesn't mean the ride wasn't fun.
>>341875438
It didn't even need that. It just needed a reason for Madison to even really be involved, since in the game, she's literally just doing it for the guy she met earlier that day.
It also needed a tighter way of makingShelbythe killer instead of outright lying to you ingame (mainly the clockshop). Also I feel Blake was underused instory as well
>>341861845
well if phantom hourglass and spirit tracks were combined into one game instead of two half baked games, yea they'd be great.
>>341857336
In the case of Super Paper Mario and Nuts and Bolts, those games vastly changed the the general mechanics. Super Paper Mario was a platformer with a 3D gimmick whereas the first two games were rpgs with light puzzle elements. Nuts and Bolts is a racer(?) with missions, instead of a collect-a-thon platformer. The statement is valid in cases like that, both games really should have been either new games entirely, or at least presented as a spin-off game.
As much as I enjoyed nuts and bolts, I think it was almost insulting for the game to say "oh here's this new banjo game that actually isn't banjo, but if you don't like this new game's mechanics, you're not gonna get any more of the old banjo."
>>341869460
Drakengard 1 sold well in Japan for a while. And SE published it. That's actually the reason why I bought it. Taros games have all been interesting as fuck.
Cavia was always incompetent and somewhat underfunded; which is why they tried to get into Microsofts pockets. Later with the cancelled game "cry on".
Good to see that Taro jumped the ship before Cavia went down. He has had more talent than any of the B-tier programmers there.
>>341874089
I can't believe people hate on that case but still enjoyed AJ and DD
>>341873492
Concert case is worse but Acro's motivations weren't as sympathetic as they were clearly supposed to be and his actual plan was beyond retarded. Overall it's just really fucking tedious. The ventriloquist might just be the most irritating fictional character ever.
>>341873343
this plus the fact that Kersti actually chastises you for NOT using the insta win sticker. It felt good to throw her away at the end.
>>341875462
Minecraft itself isn't really a bad game, it's more the developers having absolutely no idea what they're doing. In a sense, that's ok though because the game's "supposed to be a sandbox, right?"
>>341862069
I love joyful as much as painful though.
>>341861845
I actually liked the boat in Spirit Tracks. Drawing a path on the touch screen just made a lot of sense to me.Also it had the best puzzle of any zelda game, pretty much the only zelda puzzle that actually stumped anyone.
I never finished Spirit Tracks (I played a little bit on a laggy emulator). I heard the dungeons and everything were pretty darn good, bosses too. I didn't like the train though, too linear, literally.
