B Is probably a save point area, dismiss It as you are too good to lose against upcoming boss.

B is smarter - it's closer.
I would probably follow the wall I've been following already. It also depends on previous level layout.
>>
>>341836518
I don't think my brain has a pattern when it comes to chosing which path to take in video games.
Its pure RNG.

I go in the direction of the girl and recruit her into my party.

First rule of RPGs: Always go the wrong way first

A. I go there and look ahead to see if there is any shady shit like an NPC/big enemy, or a big arena/bossroom.
If there is, I head back and go B.
If there isn't, B is probably the main path for some reason I and I'll go quickly check if there is anything useful in A.
>>
>>341836678

This, just git gud.
>>
>>341836518
B is the obvious choice here. Unless the girl is a choice as well.

Smash down the wall on the opposite side of B to find the secret C area

In my experience:
>Go A to see if it's the right way
>Get locked into a combat that I can't backtrack through

enjoying that futa dick, anon?
>>
>>341836518
B.
But not because it is the not lit way, at least not entirely.

Human instinct tells us to go left- most of us anyway- so level designers, in most cases, make the way to proceed the left one.

I've learned that A is where you go to trigger a cutscene or battle and the path you came from becomes blocked and inaccessible, B is where the loot is.

>tfw the game does it reversed
>>
>>341836518
I walk about halfway to A before thinking that B might be a side area with bonus loot to get then backtrack and go there.

I'm usually right like 85% of the time.
>>
>>341836518
>go down b because it's clearly the wrong way and will have awesome loot
>it's the right way
>path a had the loot
>you cannot go back from path b

>through a winding tunnel, you reach a dead end
>turns out this was just a shortcut that leads back to the entrance when you're done going through route A
Fucking Bethesda's shitty dungeon design
>>
>>341838542
I didn´t think B was left, and I deliberately choose to go right first because extra goodies are mostly right.

A terrific example of this is the console FPS fire warrior, IIRC basically whenever there is a junction the way forward is the left one.
>>
>>341836518
First turn around and check behind for secrets, some starting places might have a hidden wall or items just behind it. Then go B, if it looks like the right way, go back to A. After a while, run back to B since A is probably the right route so B has to be a dead end. Later in B, there's a similar split into C & D, go to C for a bit, if it looks like it continues, go back to A ignoring D for now since there's no way a sidepath would have long split paths making A the real dead end. Then A has a split path to E, F & G.
