What was your most difficult boss in souls series ?no bloodborne allowed
This was the first boss in the entire franchise that I felt was actually impossible, and that no matter what I did I would never be able to get past it. Even getting into his second phase a fucking nightmare, and then I had to get accustomed to a completely new moveset and I honestly found it even harder than the first.

For me it was probablySif, rather long story as to why.
The first time I played Dark Souls was right before it came out on PC and so I ended up playing it on the only 7th Gen console I owned at the time, my 360.
I didn't bother to patch the game before starting and jumped right in without a guide. it was fairly easy going until I beat the Bell Gargoyles and thought that Darkroot Garden was the next area (I didn't notice I had picked up the key to Lower Undeadburg).
Moonlight Butterfly had me thinking that I was going the right way, but as soon as I got the Darkroot Crest and opened the door with it, I was getting my ass absolutely handed to me by everything.
When I finally got to Sif, I must have been around SL25, but when I beat him probably 60-70 tries later, I think I was around SL40-50.
I may have walked in there a fat-rolling scrub in Elite Knight's set, but I left a hardened, naked, fast rolling scrub who'd seen hell and come out unscathed.
Rest of the games were a cakewalk after that lil trial by fire. Only bosses I think I've ever had moderate trouble with were Orphan of Kos, Maneaters, Ancient Dragon, and Nameless King at SL35 with a +2 upgrade limit, and even then nothing was as hard as Sif that first time.

Is it just me, or did they change the Ancient Dragon in Scholar of the First Sin?
The strategy in the original DS2 was just run towards the tail whenever it rose and the flames would never hit. In SotFS, it would fly around after rising, so it was almost impossible to completely dodge the flames consistently.
However, they also lowered the damage on the flames. I was able to survive them using that ring that prevents backstabs and reduces damage coming from behind you.
Anyway, my toughest boss would be O&S. It's mainly because I played through the entire game hollow and didn't have any upgraded weapons. I was a derp, thinking "well, better not use the crafting ingredients--I might find a better weapon later!"

I'm not ashamed to admit it, but I just couldn't find my groove against the Dancer of the Boreal Valley. It was the longest stretch I've ever gone in the series, even Kos and The Nameless King fell quicker.
DS2: Sir Alonne. Sure you can cheese him with a fucking greatshield or phantoms, but try the fight without a shield and it's a completely different fight.
DS1: Sanctuary Guardian. Fast and less telegraphed attacks, different patterns for face and tail. Also the twin sanctuary guardian that spawns after the fight.
DS3: Soul of Cinder. One missed dodge in second phase and you're probably fucked.

if you stand between his toes on either of his back feet, none of his attacks can hit you. Even when he breathes fire on his dick and it looks like it will hit you, it will not hit you. If he tries to do the slow as fuck stomp attack, just run straight forward into the foot, and he'll just step over you and miss, then run back between his toes.
If he starts flapping his wings, sprint towards his tail because he'll jump up and do the ground AOE attack.
As long as you can stay between his toes, you can just spam R1 and do tons of damage endlessly until the 3 seconds to dodge his stomp or the 10 seconds to run from the AOE fire.

I've only ever played das1&3 and I am tied between the champ and OS, artorias seems higher skilled to me but he is predictable in the way where most das3 bosses are predictable. there is no base game bullshit with the das1 dlc bosses they all 'feel fair' where the base game cheated you with finnicky hitboxes, and spaz boss animations. OS are hardest because when the game isn't cheating you they are still a challenge but every now and then you gets the bullshit which is why they are so notorious. and the champ is equally as bullshit but not based in fundamental game flaws, nope instead of the fundamental AI, hitboxes and animations breaking on you you instead of a boss with no punish windows and instakill combos that cannot be interrupted. so if it comes down to purposefully hard bosses then I have to go with the champ, if the OS boss fight AI and fundamental flaws were refined in the das3 engine then it would be piss easy.

I grinded to level 125 because I was struggling so much on NK and beat everything else in a reasonable amount of time. After grinding I figured I would just summon someone for the hell of it (never summoned anyone, been summoned for Pontiff and it went terribly) and didn't think it would go anywhere.
We beat NK in like 3minutes (maybe less). It was so easy I just couldn't believe it. Now I'm just left with remorse. I really didn't think it would be so easy with 2 people.

Dark Souls 2 is the worst game in the series because of these fights and the Ancient Dragon, let alone the rest of the gameI loathe the Burnt Ivory King as well. If you don't spend two minutes waiting for your knight to seal the final gate it turns into a gankfest with the King as well. If you get killed, you go back to a five minute wait to fight him again. I don't think anything will ever top these two, psychologically. I remember so vividly being stuck at Anor Londo for days, and on the night before I beat them thinking "What if I can't beat this game? What if I'm just not good enough?"
When the moment came, I was still too full of adrenaline to really calm down. It wasn't till I went up the elevators and sat at the bonfire before I could let out my breath and celebrate my victory. I was so relieved and ecstatic, it was one of the most intense moments I've ever had in video games.
Nowdays there's so many expectations and ideas about what Dark Souls is that I doubt anyone playing for the first time now would have the same sort of experience. Beating O&S felt like a huge accomplishment.

I don't judge how hard a boss is by how many times I die to it, but rather, how difficult I consider them AFTER I learn their patterns.
I learned how to dodge all of Manus's attacks and he's still difficult for me, so he's one of the most difficult in the series for me.
Then there's bosses like Fume Knight or Nameless King or even the Abyss Watchers where I died a bunch learning their movesets, but once I learned them they were a piece of cake. I didn't die much to NK or Abyss Watchers, though, but died a SHIT TON to Fume.

To this date no boss has ever given me as much grief as the bell gargoyles did, all cause I was a total scrub who still didn't understand the first thing about how the game worked and had no humanity to summon Solaire. Up until this point I had pretty much bashed my head against the game, but once I beat the gargoyles I finally felt like I was beginning to get the hang of it.

for my 50 faith playthrough it only adds about another 80 damage, but getting it allows you to have the regular lighting spear and the greater lightning spear in two different slots at the same time which could be helpful if you use them trying to get to the bosses (although you should be able to kill all bosses with the ten regular ones if they hit their target)

My sister and I (we live together) have been playing through Bloodborne and DS3 concurrently. We take turns playing on our characters while watching the other one play. It's pretty fun, and it's also interesting in that we have very different play styles and I will struggle on bosses she finds easy, or vice versa.
Like, she CRUSHED Pontiff on her first or second try, but died, no joke, maybe 15 times on Aldritch and I killed him on my third try.
In bloodborne, she took down Vicar Amelia on her first attempt (WHAT) and I struggled against that boss, but I rekt Blood-Starved Beast and she ended up summoning help for that fight.

Honestly dude, Vicar is easier than Cleric Beast in my opinion. With ANY weapon besides the cane covered in fire paper, every charge attack will pretty much stagger her ass and do insane damage, especially if you went to Yahar'gul through the bag man and got some twin shards.
The hardest boss for me was 1st time Asylum Demon.
Because i had no idea how to actually play the game. I was using mouse and keyboard. I tried time and time again to fight him with the broken sword, i didn't know how to dodge, i didn't know about to door, end even when i found the door i fucked up so much, tried blocking him, got stuck on the pots (cuz i didn't know how to dodge).
