I got a Sega CD for my childhood Genesis but it keeps losing my Snatcher saves after I turn it off. I think I either need to replace its battery or get a memory cartridge

To be fair, Konami did cover their asses by shilling the Blade Runner Laserdisc and VHS in a strategy guide. Then again, this is also the reason why Snatcher never got a digital re-release on the Virtual Console or PSN (even Policenauts is on the Japanese PSN).
Also, you will never know what happened to Kojima's old boss, Metal Slave Matsui.

I don't think it's bad but it's definitely a weird change of pacing and atmosphere.
Btw, most people don't know that the MSX version was fan translated, so you can always choose to play that, which doesn't have that final act.
There was always a faint glimpse of hope for a Snatcher or Policenauts sequel, however largely improbable. But now it's ogre, it's all ogre now. The dream is dead.

Snatcher more or less suffered the same fate that MGSV underwent in the sense that it was an incredibly ambitious project that couldn't be finished on time.
From my understanding Act 3 underwent extensive rewrites when it was later added, hence why it feels so rushed.

Considering the original game came out in 88 and Act 3 only came out for the PC-Engine in 92, there is no excuse for rushing it.

The PC Engine version was Konami's first CD-ROM and at the time they didn't know the limitations of the media. Apparently there was supposed to be another Act between Act 2 and 3 that would've involved Gillian and Metal going to the Kyoto Summit to expose a snatcher disguised as a politician, but it got cut off because they ran out of space due to all the voices they already recorded and they didn't want to use multiple discs. Also, the ending would've taken place in Moscow and not in that Church in Neo Kobe. And there's evidence in one of the soundtrack albums that Randam was supposed to survive originally.
It seems Kojima still has hard copies of all the artwork used for Snatcher. Such a shame they're unlikely going to see the light of day.
