Pixel art is inspired by Eroge PC-98 games, yet that pixel art doesn't even come close to what PC-98 games looked like and is just typical lazy indie dev pixel art shit again.
Another shitty thing is the tackled memes which completely destroys immersion which was one of the selling points.

For anyone not in the know, game is a cyberpunk bartending vn game with waifus, and you play as a female bartender trying to make ends meet.
If you buy through their website you get the prologue (which is the beta version of the game before they rewrote it from scratch), the demo, and the full game. Buy it anywhere else and you just get the game.
Game looks a lot of fun but 15 bucks might be kinda steep, considering we don't now how long the game is.

That's the prologue, the one that was made before the MC's identity, gameplay mechanics, and main story were solidified. It's still relevant in terms of mood and lore I think.
The pax demo is shorter and has no dog filler, and the UI is completely different. Notice the mixing setup and the background stuff. The pax demo is essentially what will be the game, except that it's a side-story that won't actually be in the game itself.
... I'm not sure I'm explaining this right, but you can go way back on their blog to check if you're determined to know what's canon and what's not.

Because 3D art is either going to have to be heavily stylized (cel-shaded, low-res textures, etc.) or it's going to take a ridiculous amount of effort.
Even in the indie scene, you couldn't do well releasing a game looking like Deus Ex.
So basically, because it's easy.
In this case, though, it fits well, because 'cyberpunk' is the future as seen from the past (80s or 90s), so a lot of it looks like the past too.
