I'm looking for something to bug my head and challenge me,

My mental health noticeably declined when I was trying to figure out my depression. Meds have helped and I'm noticing my short term memory recovering and focus function

I'm looking for games that you've noticed improve functions like focus, memory, and possibly even multitasking. Heck I look for apps like this for mobile; but good shit like managing Ornstien and Smough are great examples of mental discipline. It can span any form of gameplay.

thanks

I know its not exacly what you are looking for, and people wont agree with me, but try Path of Exile WITHOUT looking at any wiki or online help.

The skill tree got over 1300 points, doing a decent build is pretty much required to not get destroyed later on, etc. It should be stimulating by going blind and learning the game yourself.

Lumosity. Saw commercials for it. cost money tho

A card game? Something like magic or hex maybe. You could try either for free on steam (magic origins is free)

practical quotient intelligence is a pretty good puzzler, it is for PSP but that is easily emulated in any pc and some phones.

So how well would normie facebook games like Candy Crush help with this stuff? I mean they're basically puzzle games that should get the player using their brain right?

Fighting games? Or some at least. Fighting games competivily can be very mentally engaging when you consider frame data, execution, mind games ect ect.

Could be entirely wrong though as they aren't for everybody.

Maybe dual n-back game like this one:
http://brainworkshop.sourceforge.net/
It gets hard as fuck with increasing n.

If you want an actual videogame than starcraft 2 ladder covers concentration and multitasking pretty well.

I love you OP. By the way, dont stay on the meds, I know people with similar problems and after a few years of meds their personnaly changed. But when they stop the meds for a whiel, they're back to normal... Until they have another life crisis and got back to meds.
>>
I think horror games sharpens your spirit to handle panic and fear. My favorite ones are amnesia: the dark descent and Eternal Darkness
>>
>>341764645
Try Legend of Grimrock 2. It's not exactly about multitasking (although high difficulty combat might be applicable) or memory or focus, but its puzzles often force you to think "outside the box", which is always neat.

Tetris
Chess
Go
For warm ups

RTS and general strategy are good: starcraft, age of empires, civilization (2 and 4).

Arena fps or just serious fps: xonotic, counter strike

I mean, the answer is so easy and obvious this thread must be a proof of your laziness, OP.

Try chemspace, ozu, simulators, the list goes on.

Study physics and logic on your own. Get a bigger vocabulary(learn new meanings, not synonyms).

Stop drinking coffee daily, the tolerance is the Opposite of the nootropic effect.

Learn how to program(start with C and Python, then move on to whatever is personally useful), read SICP

If you have problem with motivation, just realize that your life is shit. I suggest that you also get into theology so that you won't call yourself a victim in a chaotic universe.

Try to to be a serious person. This is so fundamental, stop laughing, stop being too retarded.

I'm on weak dose of cipralex, my psych is trying to convince me I might have early onset psychosis, so he perscribed me abilify, and a 2.5mg made me lust for anything, enough to browse craigslist for shadey shit, it was fucked. Just one had me going like that for 4 days straight. meds are fucked,

I take supplements with the cipralex and just do some excersize and I've been better.

I've only been depressed and this psych guilt trips me for not trusting him telling me what to swallow. He had me on edge once when he told me he can take my rights and have me institutionalised if I get bad.

I need a new psych

If you're looking at mobile, stuff like diner dash is good for multitasking. Also fruit ninja and flight control.

As far as real games, I'd say just about any of the good Zelda games would be a good bet. Stay off the 3DO versions and you're basically fine.

Supplements + sports should be enough for your body to fix itself, including your mental state.

I had some drugs problems around the end of my teenage years. A thing that helped to stop was doing sports. I started to do some taekwondo. Not only did it help me mentally (need some rigor, a good way liberate some frustrations, etc.) it also helped with getting my body (and confidence) back in shape.

I'm drug free now for... 9years? So yeah, whatever you do, try to do some sports as-well, it really cant hurt.

Different story entirely, but I got cancer (leukemia), brain hemorrhages, and epilepsy and partial paralysis about a year ago. I've been getting getting better mentally and physically for about a year since. I've been going to a therapist for the last few months and I'm starting to think about dropping it, as I'm not really noticing much good come out of it. He's way too quick to recommend antidepressants even though I don't really consider myself to be depressed.

Anyways keep your chin up and hopefully we won't die

I study mathematical physics

trust me, I was once the type to think depressed people were just lazy, didn't help with figuring my condition. It's not motivation, It's just a difficulty with living to carey out basic human task, you can tell how much It's impeded when you notice mental decline and being less than what you were, or could have been.

you're right about coffee, it's stressing

That's because their job is to sell you meds, not help you get better. That one is up to you. Which is why shrinks are a waste of money or a crutch for people that have no one to talk to about their issues.
>>
>>341768223
If your drugs don't work ask to get a different type. They DO work it's just not everyone of them works wonders for everyone, some drugs can really fuck you up too if your body doesn't like them. Either change dosage or change drugs. I do suggest staying on them from my own personal experience.

>mfw someone will take these shitty tips

You should leave that "it's all chemicals!!1 lol so meaningless :^)" euphoric redditor mentality, because pessimistic nihilism won't help him with his depression.

It's funny how you mention that laughing is bad to cure depression, because other scientific studies show contrary results. And just like these poor researches, it's risky to generalize human nature like you just did. It really depends on the situation: a good, genuine laugh may distract a depressed individual from his state, helping him remember the good times and that not everything is shit. And forcing yourself to laugh when you don't feel it will cause yourself to feel even worse.

OP must know himself. He should be the one to decide when it's appropiate to laugh or not. To remove such a fundamental part of the human nature that greatly contributes to our overall happiness and helps us not to take bad situations so seriously. What sort of retard would want to do that based on incomplete scientific studies that don't take other factors in consideration?
>>

These people are not here to help you.

Psychiatry is not a science, and I hope you know better than to just say " your body doesn't like these drugs, so find one that works" this is where it's unreliable. You should know better than to put blind faith in it. it's a game played with our bodies.

psychiatrists really have no clue of mechanics to how these substances affect the brain. there is no understanding involved, they always jabber about what they know, but not what the consequences specifically are . it's just throwing a rock in a pit to tell how deep it is without the insight there may be bloodthirsty creatures lurking within. It's a trial and error process that ordinary people can be put through. I'd rather not be that next guinea pig.
