I think there are still games coming out that are pretty good, but none of them dethrone my favorites. A modern game that really comes close is Terraria but I was playing with my brother. We had our own elaborate bases across the world, but all the action actually took place in his little fishing shack that was so chock full of trinkets you could hardly move. Especially after we got into hard mode and half of our bases were just inhabitable death pits, forcing everyone closer and closer together.
But I don't think it'd be any fun at all to play it on my own.

I can't honestly say that Bloodborne was as good as any of the souls games. As much as a disappointment that Dark Souls 2 was, I still found it more enjoyable than Bloodborne. I respect the level and enemy design, which was very well done, I just didn't really get into any of the weapons nor armor. I didn't like the setting either desu.

I easily played with like 10 other people that didn't want to buy it at first and had a blast.

Actually I've been playing it since ~2013/14.
It just recently hit steam, but its version 0.12.x, soon 0.13.
Not really Early Access though, it is more then a complete game, just the devs want to keep adding and expanding it, especially the endgame.
