Nintendo is basically betting their entire company on one piece of software that is supposed to bring in a ton of sales for years for the Wii U and NX. I mean really, if this game doesn't turn Nintendo around, can the company survive much longer?
What if Breath of the Wild isn't that good and gets overshadowed by other action-adventure and JRPG games? What if the graphics and performance of the game ends up having too many issues?

Honestly I understand the Nintendo is made of money meme, but at the beginning of Wii U's cycle I was saying Nintendo would be able to survive two failed console cycles. The Wii U has been pretty abysmal compared to PS4, Xbone and PC sales this generation, very few young people seem to even think Nintendo is interesting anymore compared to how it was in the 90s and 00s.
I think the game will be good and sell well, but still. I can't help but think the company will do very poorly if this game isn't a knockout, the company has suffered so much over these past few years. The NX is forced with the responsibility of winning many Nintendo customers back who have just given up on the brand.

You're confusing 'free roaming' with 'open world'. Don't feel bad. Almost everyone makes this mistake. But even then, no free roaming game has total freedom. Even Skyrim, you have to complete at least 5 main story quests before you can just rush to the ending. Just like you need 7 triforce pieces in Zelda 1. But its a freeroaming open world since you can do most of those dungeons in whatever order you want. The only exceptions being level 4, 5 and 7.
