I never found Mission 5 or 6 bad, honestly. They give you some simple rules and play fair by them, so you win with a little patience even on VH.
But the missions with rocket-banding AI racers can go get fucked by a nutmeg grater. They don't even care about preserving the not-very-delicate ILLUSION of a vaguely-fair race, starting on Normal and up.

when i was in highschool, my first girlfriend broke up with me and i was an angry wreck. for some reason i put this in, and a few weeks later i fucking 100%ed it. completed everything on very hard and master class, bought everything, unlocked every ghost.

At least you could unlock almost everything from AX. It's too bad that there were a few really sweet-looking parts that were Japanese AX only, though. You can use codes to get them but it's just not the same as earning it. Galaxy Falcon probably would have been my favourite body part otherwise.

In X, the more speed you're able to get, the longer it takes to reach those speeds. So if you crash from going to fast and not know when to turn, you'll be a lot slower than a car with lower high speed that reaches max quicker.
The balance is gone in GX, as the stats in the game are a total lie. You need to be max speed in order to win the higher difficulties, so the game makes the slider is a non-factor there.
