I still have my 360 and have been looking to upgrade to the Xbone because the new games are being made for it. So I sort of have to upgrade.
BUT NOW they come out with the Xbox One S, and I'm not even sure if I should simply wait for that to come out in 2 months.
I don't have a 4K tv. I have the same non 1080p tv I've had for 5 years but I'm not autistic with image quality like that. Might get a new TV one day anyway but we'll see.
Anyway, is it better to have this damn thing and play it through the TV I have for the time being? It seems to have some more bells and whistles at relatively the same price, so I'm wondering if /v/ can help a casual out.
Ask me anything and I'll go by your recommendation.

Lol. Just get the S.
Just buy a PC.

Depends on what games you want to play.
>>341662351
Well I won't be playing sports games or racing games anytime soon.
Does that narrow things down?

Probably not. Microsoft apparently wants to release ALL of their new games on BOTH Windows 10 and the Xbone. So just build yourself a comparable gaming PC for half the price.

But I don't want my shit to crash on startup.

Yes; multiplats.
In which case you are better off buying the better performing console.

The Xbone S is not the Scorpio. It does not run 4k, it's just the normal Xbone but slimmer. You don't need a new TV for it.
Personally, I wouldn't bother with an Xbone. I own one and it barely ever gets used and there are no games coming out for it that I am interested in either.
Unless it has games you know you'd like and want to play, don't bother, it's really not a good console.

Why isn't it a good console?
>>341660160
if you dont have a pc, do it.
theres good games coming out for ps4 and xbone, but xbone seems more fun in the long run

Well for starters, it has a poor selection of games. On top of that any exclusives it would have been getting are off to the PC (windows 10 specifically), so there is little reason to own it.
Outside of games, the UI is one of the worst I've ever seen. It's slow, it's awkward to navigate and most of the screen is filled with ads and stuff you don't need but can't remove.
Despite this general shittiness, the UI is still lacking a lot of basic features (like install times, you can't even fucking see how fast you're downloading or how long the download will take).
The console it's self takes fucking ages to boot up. It's boot time is longer than most PCs.
A lot of stuff with the consoles design is also ass backwards for no fucking reason. I got a new controller for it (old one broke, no surprise they're cheap shit), getting it to function properly was a fucking nightmare. The console wouldn't detect it so I had to use a wire at all times, but for no apparent reason things like my headset wouldn't work.
Turns out I had to navigate to some tiny hidden settings menu and download an update for the controller. A fucking update for the fucking controller, just to get basic functionality for it.
The entire console is designed with this level of retardedness.

With the exception of only a very small handful of games, everything on it will be made available on PC.
So unless you just don't play PC games at all, there's no reason to buy it.
