Why wouldn't they allow this work with my PC? It would make it THE headset for me and I imagine a lot of other people. But as it stands I've got to pick between this and one that works with PC, and I'm not going to pick one that only works with my console.
>>
Same reason the PS3/4 controllers don't work on PC I imagine.

Someone will probably write drivers for it.

http://www.extremetech.com/gaming/225651-sony-might-bring-playstation-vr-to-the-pc

In an interview with Nikkei (as translated by Gamesindustry.biz), Sony Computer Entertainment executive vice president Masayasu Ito suggested that PC compatibility could be added at a later date, even if it wasn’t present on launch day. “Since the PS4’s internal parts are similar to those of a PC, this is a possibility,” Ito said. “Right now we’re focused on games, so we’re not at the point of announcing anything, but there’s a possibility to expand into various field.”

>>
>It would make it THE headset for me and I imagine a lot of other people.
you imagine wrong, in both cases. I say this as a Vive owner - resolution is still abominable. it is the major shortcoming of all the first-gen headsets, the single point that most desperately needs improvement. and the PSVR has an even smaller resolution, probably half the effective visible pixels. this sounds extreme, but remember, it is using a single panel, whereas both rift and vive are using separate panels of each eye

PSVR is a piece of shit, probably even inferior to phone VR. hell, probably there will be no 2nd-gen dedicated VR HMDs, probably phone VR is the future flat-out. whatever happens, do not support sony or psvr. Sony needs to get with the program and recognize consoles are dead, like Microsoft already has. not try to sucker in costumers with an inferior knockoff version of what they see only as the next fad.
>>
>>341658441

Wrong on both.

Vive only has 240x120 more pixels. It's an equivalent difference from 900p to 1080p (except PSVR is 1080p and Vive goes slightly beyond that)

Thing is that Vive's panel is so shit, the actual subpixel count is 33% lower than what the total pixel number indicates. So both headsets are quite close, with PSVR actualy edging it out in eliminating screendoor effect

But as you said, every 1st gen headset has a subpar display regardless of differences between them

you can watch porn on PSVR though. 3D hentai, MMD videos, 3DPD, or recordings of H-games. The only thing you cant do is actually play H-games.

Every PSVR game is reprojected

games that run at native 60fps are reprojected to 120Hz. (there's also 90fps>90Hz and 120fps>120Hz, these are the 3 options). It doesn't actually double the frames, but you percieve it as running the game much smoother

Here's a similar technique, interpolation, done in a much more extreme way because anime runs between 4fps to 12fps in frame-by-frame animations and 24fps at best for backgrounds and camera movement and all of this is "converted" to 60fps

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mScqgquCsg

As you can see, it was actually animated at 24fps (at best) and yet you percieve it as running at 60fps, aside from the choppier 4-12fps hand drawn animation

PSVR does the same from 60fps to 120Hz, albeit with a different technique

They could have made PSVR even cheaper but they wanted to add the box for the TV output, bumping the price to $400.

PSVR is being sold for a profit, the margin isn't too big but it's there. Yoshida said they didn't want to sell it at a loss. I can't be bothered to look for the GDC interview but its there in video form.

Obviously you proved my point as that is incorrect. Screen door is the space between pixels, it can be reduced by putting pixels closer together (ie higher PPI screen), more subpixels closer together, or diffusion through the lens to make it less apparent. It's pixelation, objects that are the distance appearing blocky, that can only be reduced by straight up resolution.

>Currently the morpheus has the same screen door problem that the dk2 had.

It hasn't been called Morpheus in a long time, and everyone who's tried it since it has been called PSVR says the screen door is less than on the Vive as Morpheus incorporates all of the above methods to reduce screen door.

RE7 is on PC too you tard

Show me one source in the last 2 months that says PSVR has less screen door than release rift.
Vive I don't care about. Most sources agree that Rift managed to get the best lenses and has the best sitting experience, where text isn't a blurry mess when not looking right at it.

Not with native VR support though.

It will get modded in probably.

Did I say it was exclusive? Why are you sperging out?

You shitposted about every PSVR game being a 1hour long tech demo gimmick and I clearly have proven you wrong. That's all there is to it, calm down now.
Should I mention the plethora of Vive/Oculus games that are coming to PSVR too or would that trigger you?

It'll just get an official update for rift and vive, they just didn't announce it at E3
>>
>>341658981
Wait till someone gets it working before you decides. It seem more complicated then writing a driver for a controller
>>
>>341679019
They actually confirmed the opposite.
People at E3 were saying that It is possible for it to come at a later date, but not at launch and Capcom are just focusing on PSVR at the moment.
>>
>>341679230
Like I said, it'll get an official update
They were probably paid for 1 month of vr exclusivity or some shit
>>
>>341677963
You don't need either of those, PSVR has a built in gyroscope.

PSVR uses a fullRGB display, Vive uses PenTile.

It's factually impossible for pentile to be better. This is like giving you 2 PC specs, only with a 1080GTX and the other with a 970 and you still ask for proof as to which one runs better because somehow you don't believe the 1080 outperforms a 970

It needs no proof, it's self-evident. FullRGB is better than PenTile by roughly 33% given the same resolution. Vive's PPI is not 33% higher than PSVR's, so PSVR has less black space between pixels

Notice the reds, for example. Every pixel has a red subpixel in PSVR, while in Vive/Oculus at best 2/5 have red and at worse 1/4 have red, depending on which shitty PenTile display matrix they use.

I'm going to skip all the reddit testimony's and trying from a PC user based source:
http://www.tomshardware.com/news/playstation-vr-london-heist-demo,30244.html
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/vive-rift-playstation-vr-comparison,4513-3.html

Tested also mentions it, giving a direct comparision between Vive and PSVR in one of their hour long VR minutes, but I'm not going to be able to find the exact spot as I don't know which one or what minute it would be at.

This guy was earlier claiming that more subpixels does not reduce screen door. He is not interested in facts.
>>
>>341681619
Yup, vastly superior display and vastly superior lenses, yet people say its the shittiest somehow
>>
>>341681938
To be fair, PSVR as a whole may not be a good experience if it's attached to a PS4 and many of their games have poorly implemented VR. Its reprojection kind of sucks, makes the view wobble if you aren't getting a solid framerate.

But if attached to a PC driving it at 120hz, the headset itself would be great. Also the 120hz refresh rate makes it perfect for virtual cinema as all lower media refresh rates are easily divisible.
