90% of reviewers, and to a lesser extent, consumers, will never mention performance issues for handheld games.
In fact, I never knew Dragon's Crown was such a shitstain on the FPS front until I got it on PSPlus, I had been playing the PS3 version since release.
Worst performing game I've had the displeasure of playing so far that no one said anything about was Final Fantasy Explorers. Stay away from that 10 FPS, memory leak, tech disaster.

I've been playing it for 12 hours and am fairly certain it's going to become extremely grindy at some point. At first glance the units seem to be locked into their Field Skills and Abilities, but there are items to change them. I don't like the randomized aptitudes though, makes it feel like a waste when you can hire a dude with much better aptitudes than the unit you've been training for a while. There are items to increase these aptitudes, but they seem fairly scarce. The game is very vague in if it wants you to replace units with ones that have better starting aptitudes or grind up the ones you have. You can't change the name/face and voice of a character like in Disgaea, so I hope you picked a combination you're gonna like for a long time.
